Palanga (Samogitian: Palonga, Latvian: Palanga (also till 1934)) is a seaside resort town in western Lithuania, on the shore of the Baltic Sea. It is the busiest summer resort in Lithuania and has beaches of sand (18 km long and up to 300 m wide) and sand dunes.

Palanga is the biggest and the most universal seaside resort of Lithuania. It is located 29 kilometres far from Klaipėda. The Lithuanian seacoast is famous for its beaches of beautiful white sand and dunes, which can be found nowhere else on the Baltic Sea coast. The sandy coast extends for over 15 km and is backed by a pine forest and dunes.

Palanga - Lithuania's most famous seaside resort
Located on the shore of the Baltic coast, Palanga is probably the most famous seaside resort in Lithuania with it's wonderful long sandy beaches, scented pines, quiet parks and perfect seaside bike roads. But don't think that's all the town has to offer, we really liked the quite typical architecture of it's wooden houses or of it's pier. From Palanga's top picks the only place we don't really recommend is Basanavicius street, the most famous street in Palanga is crowed and full of souvenir shop's and arcades. We recommend the many parks and smaller streets of the city or renting a bike to explore the surrounding area.
It makes for a perfect family resort with lots to entertain any age child, or for a party all night youngster paradise due to it's many bar's and pubs.
We really enjoyed our time in Palanga, and would love to go back soon if we get a chance.

We make our way past Grojantis Fontanas, to the fountain of Jūratė and Kastytis. Then take a walk on Palangos tiltas and see fishermen catching dinner, and I leave my mark. After that, we hang out on the beach for awhile. Jūratė and Kastytis is one of the most famous and popular Lithuanian legends and tales.
