Palazzo Delle Albere – Extérieur – Trento – Audioguide – MyWoWo Travel App

Trento – Introduction – Trento – Audio guide – MyWoWo Travel App
Hi, my name's Scott, and I'm your personal guide. Along with MyWoWo, I'd like to welcome you to one of the Wonders of the World: Trento.
An ancient city, originally a Rhaetian settlement and later ruled by the Romans, Trento is a fascinating destination for both history and nature lovers, with 80% of the area made up of woodlands, pastures, fields and rocky slopes.
Three rivers - the Adige, the Fersina and Rio Salé – also run through the city, as well as the Adigetto Canal, crossed by dozens of delightful bridges.
The marvelous Trento Old Town is an open-air museum, featuring medieval and Renaissance architecture, with splendid noble buildings such as Palazzo Geremia, Palazzo Quetta Alberti-Colico and Palazzo Thun, as well as churches such as Santa Maria Maggiore, San Pietro and Paolo and the magnificent Cathedral, looking onto one of the most beautiful squares in Italy.
The Cathedral was also one of the locations that hosted the Council of Trent, during which, for the 18 years between 1545 and 1563, this mountain city became the political and religious center of the whole of Europe...

Places to see in ( Trento - Italy ) Cattedrale di San Vigilio
Trento Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Trento, northern Italy. It is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Trento, and, until 1802, was the seat of the Bishopric of Trent. It was built over a pre-existing 6th-century church devoted to Saint Vigilius (Italian: San Vigilio), patron saint of the city.
Bishop Federico Wanga commissioned the architect Adamo d'Arogno to construct the new Lombard-Romanesque church. Works continued for more than a hundred years, with the Gothic style becoming increasingly evident. The façade has a large rose window including The Wheel of Fortune. Notable also are the lions supporting the columns of the narthex on the northern side and the twisting columns in the apsidal area.
The interior has a nave and two aisles with a transept. The latter has 14th-century frescoes depicting the legend of Saint Julian and the stone statue of the Madonna degli Annegati. The apse of the right transept houses the relics of the local martyrs Sisinius, Marturius and Alexander who died around 397 AD. In the right aisle is the Crucifix Chapel (1682), with a wooden crucifix at the feet of which were promulgated the issues of the Council of Trent, whose sessions were held in the church's presbytery. Painter Ludovico Dorigny also contributed works to the cathedral.

Palazzo Delle Albere – Aussenbereich – Trento – Audioguide – MyWoWo Travel App
