Murano es normalmente descrita como una isla de la laguna veneciana, aunque como Venecia, es realmente un archipiélago de islas unidas por puentes. Se encuentra aproximadamente a 16 kilómetros de Venecia y es famosa por sus obras en cristal, particularmente por sus lámparas.
Murano fue fundada por los romanos, y desde el siglo VI fue habitada por gentes procedentes de Altino y Oderzo. In the fifteenth century, the island became popular as a resort for Venetians, and palaces were built, but this later declined. The countryside of the island was known for its orchards and vegetable gardens until the nineteenth century, when more housing was built.
Attractions on the island include the Church of Santa Maria e San Donato, known for its twelfth century Byzantine mosaic pavement and said to house the bones of the dragon slain by Saint Donatus, the Church of San Pietro Martire with his splendid chapel of the Ballarin family build in 1503 and the Palazzo da Mula. Glass-related attractions include the many glassworks, some Mediaeval and most open to the public, and the Glass Museum, housed in the large Palazzo Giustinian.

Early in the second millennium hermits of the Camaldolese Order occupied one of the islands, seeking a place of solitude for their way of life. There they founded the Monastery of St. Michael (Italian: S. Michele di Murano). This monastery became a great center of learning and printing. The famous cartographer, Fra Mauro, whose maps were crucial to the European exploration of the world, was a monk of this community. The monastery was suppressed in 1810 by French forces under Napoleon, in the course of their conquest of the Italian peninsula, and the monks were expelled in 1814. The grounds then became Venice's major cemetery.

Nearly 80 superb villas in the province of the Veneto, many Palladian, are captured in 400 beautiful large colour photographs. Dotted over the evocative landscape adjacent to Venice, Padua, Vicenza, Treviso and other centres are world-famous country houses, manors and villas in their beautifully landscaped or magnificent and rustic settings. Those designed by the great Andrea Palladio and his follower's inspired celebrated houses and palaces in 18th century Britain and Colonial America. Names of these villas recall Venetian power and splendour - Comaro, Barbaro, Contarini, Foscari. Some are palaces, others jewel-like residences, many decorated with grandiose frescoes by masters such as Veronese or the two Tiepolos, father and son. All are examples of flawless architecture and exquisite proportions and many are set within beautiful gardens enhanced by fountains and sculptures. The book is arranged chronologically and each villa assessed historically, architecturally and artistically within a suite of photographs, some with plans and elevations. Following the 112 page introduction is the first section beginning with Petrarch's house, his coat of arms, and contemporary photographs of exterior and interior and the poet's study with a beautiful wooden chair. Next is the Palazzo da Mula on the Isle of Murano, the palace appears to float on water. Slipcased, a huge monumental 13 x 11 volume, maps, 514pp in delicious colour, many double page spreads of rich interiors and close ups of tapestries and masterpieces. A very rare find we have imported from Germany.

Ma a che serve la luce? Workshop a S. Marco.
Nello splendido scenario di Piazza San Marco, dalle ore 15 alle 17 di sabato 18 e martedì 28 febbraio, i maestri della ditta Signoretto Lampadari hanno realizzato alcuni progetti degli studenti della Scuola di Decorazione dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia.
L’iniziativa si è inserita tra le attività del workshop “ma a che serve la luce?”, progetto avviato dall’Accademia in collaborazione con la ditta di Murano nell’anno accademico 2016-2017.
Attraverso le iniziative in programma l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, assieme alla Signoretto Lampadari e alle aziende coinvolte, si intende contribuire a diffondere presso le nuove generazioni la cultura dell'indispensabile relazione tra competenze e ricerca in un settore, come quello del vetro, che anche nel recente passato è stato un fondamentale pilastro della nostra identità locale.
Alcuni dei pezzi realizzati sono stati presentati in una sezione dell’esposizione “ARA – Percorsi di progettazione per il vetro artistico contemporaneo all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia“, organizzata in collaborazione con la Municipalità di Venezia, Murano e Burano, inaugurata a maggio a Palazzo Da Mula a Murano.
L'evento è stato organizzato dal Consorzio Promovetro Murano che, attraverso le aziende consorziate concessionarie del marchio Vetro Artistico® Murano, ha presentato la lavorazione del vetro dal vivo in piazza San Marco.

Murano fica a somente 1 km de Veneza. É famosa pelas obras em vidro. As atrações da ilha são a Igreja de Santa Maria e São Donato, conhecida pelos seus mosaicos bizantinos do século XII, e porque se diz que abriga os ossos de um dragão que matou São Donato; a Igreja de São Pedro Mártir e o Palácio da Mula.

With the SUV and Crossover market still currently on the rise in America, Hyundai knew it was time to completely redesign their Santa Fe Sport in order to attract more appeal to their 5-passenger mid-size family crossover. Despite the Santa Fe’s sales figures increasing at a steady rate, many of its (direct and indirect) competitors (such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV, Chevy Equinox, Nissan Rogue, Kia Sportage, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Edge, Nissan Murano, Subaru Outback, Dodge Journey, and more) have been getting quite drastic updates recently.
