Lloret de Mar Costa Brava, Spain 1968
Lloret de Mar (Catalan: [ʎuˈɾɛd də ˈmar], Spanish: [ʎoˈɾe(ð) ðe ˈmar]) is a Mediterranean coastal town in Catalonia, Spain. One of the most popular holiday resorts on the Costa Brava, it is 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Girona and 75 kilometres (47 miles) from Barcelona. With a population of 39,363 in 2009, it is the second largest town in the Selva comarca of Catalonia.
Lloret de Mar attracts summer visitors on package tours. Its main beach (length: 1,630 m; width: 45 m; small, gravel-like stones) is one of the most popular Costa Brava beaches and is consistently awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness.
There are historical remains of Iberian and Roman civilisations at various archeological sites. The first written references to Lloret de Mar can be found in documents from 966 as Loredo from the Latin word lauretum (bay laurel). Like many Mediterranean coastal towns, Lloret was frequently invaded by the Saracens in the Middle Ages. It is said that the traditional Ball de Plaça (the Dance in the Town Square) dates from this era.
Until the 15th century, the town’s centre was located one kilometre (0.6 miles) inland, next to the Chapel of Les Alegries (the town’s main church before the Church of Sant Romà was built) to protect itself from attacks from English, French, Turkish and Algerian pirates. Lloret’s port became commercially important in the 18th century. It no longer exists but the Garriga Houses built by Americanos, rich returning Spanish immigrants to the Americas, remind us of this affluent era.
Costa Brava - The spectacular, rugged coast of Spain
The Costa Brava is located in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, covering the coastal towns and villages of the beautiful province of Girona in Catalonia.
Many who do not known the region, think only of built up resorts such as Lloret de Mar and Blanes. The truth however, is that the Costa Brava is home to some of the most delightful towns, villages and beaches in Spain.
The Costa Brava has an intricate coastline of over 300 kilometres washed by the Mediterranean Sea, and backed by the high Pyrenees. It is a diverse region of extraordinary natural beauty and has a very deep artistic and historical heritage.

Palm Tree´s New Home - Roses & Lions ®
From the very beginning, Roses & Lions ®, was an ambitious project. Working three years for the leading garden centre in Spain, gave me the training I needed. So, together with the skills brought by my grandparents and all the years I spent at the university studying Biology. Consultancy and Garden Maintenance was the starting point. I did notice the lack of a specialized service in the years I worked for the garden centre. Altogether, it did nothing but encourage me to move ahead and give the first step. First steps are always difficult, but challenge is exactly what I need.
If you are starting from sketch, in the middle of or at the end of your project, and you find yourself helpless, Consultancy and Garden Maintenance is your best option. Knowledge is everything, thus saving you time and money.

Fiesta (Festival) in Fuengirola. Spain.
•October 6th -- 12th The Fuengirola Fair: Feria de Fuengirola
Each city, town and village in Spain has an annual fair. In Fuengirola the fair takes place in October, starting with a bang on the 6th with a huge fireworks display and it is now one of the most important fairs on the coast.
When the fair is on, you can't miss it. A lot of music and special dance events are going on throughout the day and night.
Local people and even foreigners dress up in traditional Spanish dress, the women in the typical flamenco dress and the men with the short jackets, high wasted trousers, boot and hats.
Horses are a large part of the feria agenda and usually on the Thursday of the fair, prizes are given for the best horses.
During the week of the feria, there is also a lot going on at the Fuengirola bullring, such as horse drawn carriage displays.
In fact, the whole town is in feria mode for this week in October and the best way to ensure that you don't miss any of the events, is to pick up a programme, which are usually freely available in newspaper shops, bars, etc.
