Is This The Best Right Point In The World? | SURFER Magazine | Wish You Were Here: Point Perfection
“The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” is how filmmaker Diogo d’Orey describes the mysto, fickle righthand point that he and surfer Antonio Silva recently scored on a strike mission. The wave immediately conjures up mental comparisons to an inverse Skeleton Bay. Or even more recently, the hollow right-handed sandblaster Mick Fanning refers to as, “The Snake.”
“For what I know, Mick Fanning’s wave is Snapper Rocks,” d’Orey smugly answers when asked if the wave is the same as Fanning’s. “I don’t know if it’s the same wave. I’m sure it’s not Snapper Rocks.”
It’s definitely not Kirra, J-bay or Salina Cruz either, but is it the best right in the world? Hit play to watch “Wish You Were Here: Point Perfection” and you be the judge.
Adventures on Barbuda

Humpback whales in Antigua
24th January 2010, 3 miles west of Palmetto point Barbuda. A pair of Humpbacks, possibly juveniles? playing around. We spotted them breaching on the horizon and zoomed over for a look. We shut off engines and coasted into their vicinity. After a while they approached us and began circling the boat. 4 of us jumped in for a closer look as they circled. They were really curious but did not get close to any of us in the water. Really muscular and athletic, an awesome experience. Thanks to Eli and Adventure Antigua for this adventure.

Lighthouse Bay Barbuda
Lighthouse Bay on the island of Barbuda is the most exclusive and attractive beachfront in the Caribbean and may be the most amazing combination of sand, sea and sun ever created by nature.

BARBUDA ~ Coco Point ~ Robert De Niro ~ Best UAV Drone Caribbean Aerials ~ WeBeYachting.com
Barbuda is an island in the Eastern Caribbean, that forms part of the state of Antigua and Barbuda. It has a population of about 1,638 (at the 2011 Census), most of whom live in the town of Codrington. The island is famous for its beautiful pristine pink coral sand beaches. Low Bay beach is 17 of unbroken miles of pink sand beach. With mysterious abandoned forts, Neolithic caves and beachfront untouched since the days of Christopher Columbus, Barbuda is host to a wild bird sanctuary standing on a mesmerizing lagoon. A liberal scattering of ancient shipwrecks off its shores, Barbuda is both the deepest retreat into solitude you could dream of and almost untouched to the world.

Robert De Niro's Controversial Takeover Of Barbuda
The Caribbean paradise Barbuda has been owned by descendants of the island's former slaves for nearly 200 years. In the wake of hurricane Irma, is their ownership at threat from a government land grab?

Barbuda is the most beautiful island in the Caribbean, says a Barbudan man. But all is not well in the formerly unspoilt jewel of the Caribbean, which Princess Diana once called one of her favourite places on earth. Her favoured hideaway, the K club hotel, went out of business in 2004, attracting the development interest of Hollywood legend Robert de Niro. I went there on a day trip and never forgot it, says the star. But his ever expanding Paradise Found project has been met with stiff opposition from protesters, who question the nature of the mogul's contracts with the government. Robert de Niro don't know what he is taking on. We unite when you come on the land rights, says Daphne Thomas, a Barbudan now living in England. Under the island's historic slavery reparations, she still has a share in the island's communal land arrangements, as do her children. But following new land legislation, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has been accused of reversing these powers, paving the way for developers like De Niro. Its a big land grab - to please who? The foreign investors. Not to please the local people..., says one protestor.

Abandoned Luxury Holiday Resort - The K Club Barbuda - Urban Exploration
We visited Barbuda in February 2014 during a sailing trip. The K Club used to be a multimillion luxury holiday resort for the chosen ones. Lady Diana with both princes used to come here for holiday. Most of the Club is still intact, no signs of vanadlism visible. This is probably due to the fact that Barbuda is only visited by sailors and that not by many as the Island lies pretty off track the usual sailing routes in the Carribean. The resort is easily accessible from the beautiful Lady Diana Beach - there is no security patrolling. In more than 48 hours we spent in Barbuda we have only seen 4-5 sailing boats visiting the island ( at least where we anchored ) The resort is abandoned for 11 years but the website is still in use:
UPDATE 2015 - seems like Robert de Niro himself bought the property in order to reopen th eclub in the future! Great news!
