Rovinj, Croatia - city tour
Rovinj or Rovigno is a city in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea. Located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, it is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. Istriot, a Romance language once widely spoken in this part of Istria, is still spoken by some of the residents. The town is officially bilingual, Italian and Croatian, hence both town names are official and equal.
The main economic activity in Rovinj/Rovigno is tourism, its bars, restaurants and art galleries work long hours, while operating limited hours off-season.
The busiest area is the very centre of Rovinj/Rovigno, extending from the main bus station towards the old part of town, where most bars and clubs are located.
The town's main central thoroughfare is the fully pedestrian Carrera Street, with many independent shops and art galleries. A farmer's market is located at the edge of the historic part of town, near Valdibora Square.
Rovinj/Rovigno is the second biggest tourist destination in the county, in terms of overnight stays. The two closest airports are Pula/Pola and Trieste and during the summer season, low-cost airlines such as Ryanair operate direct flights from western Europe to both airports.
Also during the summer season, there is a direct high speed ferry link between Venice and Rovinj/Rovigno. High speed weekly lines to the Port of Ravenna and Cesenatico are also available in the summer.
There are numerous hotels in the town itself, and beds are abundant though usually overbooked in the summer months. Accommodation ranges from private rooms or apartments to bungalows, camping sites and 2 to 4 star hotels. The city also has two luxury, 5-star boutique hotels, Hotel Monte Mulini and Hotel Lone. Apart from hotels on the mainland, there are also a handful of hotels on small islands surrounding Rovinj/Rovigno which are linked to the mainland by boats which go from the city centre to the hotel on the islands.

ROVINJ - Croatia Travel Guide | Around The World
Rovinj/Rovigno ; Italian: Rovigno, Ancient Greek: Ρυγίνιον (Ryginion), Latin: Ruginium) is a city in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea with a population of 14,294 (2011).
Rovinj/Rovigno was already a settlement of Venetian or Illyrian tribes before being captured by the Romans, who called it Arupinium or Mons Rubineus, and later Ruginium and Ruvinium. Built on an island close to the coast, it became connected to the mainland much later, in 1763, by filling in the channel.
Rovigno was eventually incorporated into the Byzantine Empire, later becoming part of the Exarchate of Ravenna in the 6th century, before being taken over by the Frankish Empire in 788. For the following several centuries it was ruled by a succession of feudal lords, and in 1209 it was acquired by the Patriarchate of Aquileia under Wolfger von Erla.
From 1283 to 1797 Rovigno was one of the most important towns in Istria governed by the Republic of Venice. During this period three town gates were constructed and Rovinj was fortified by two rows of defensive walls, remains of which can still be seen today. Nearby the Rovinj/Rovigno pier one can find one of the old town gates, the Balbi's Arch, dating from 1680, and a late-Renaissance clock tower. The first city statute was proclaimed in 1531.
The main economic activity in Rovinj/Rovigno is tourism and during peak season (May–September), its bars, restaurants and art galleries work long hours, while operating limited hours off-season.
According to data compiled by Istria Tourist Board, Rovinj/Rovigno is the second biggest tourist destination in the county, in terms of overnight stays. The two closest airports are Pula/Pola (Croatia) and Trieste (Italy) and during the summer season, low-cost airlines such as Ryanair operate direct flights from western Europe to both airports.

Croatia is decidedly bi with its superb coastal attributes adjacent to an equally picturesque interior festooned with soaring mountains and pristine lakes. In Zagreb, Croatia's capital, we are treated to the sights and sounds of a city that displays a unique blend of Eastern and Western European influences.
At the Plitvice we admire spectacular vistas provided by 16 lakes, each at a different level, joining together in cascading waterfalls.
The historic town of Zadar was once the capital of Byzantine Dalmatia and offers no end of fascinating sites; our walking tours through Trogir and Hvar prove equally rewarding with their narrow streets, beautiful palaces, and majestic cathedrals.
There's no better end to any tour than spending time in Dubrovnik, often referred to as The Pearl of the Adriatic.

SINK THE BISMARCK: Short Summary - The World War II story of the British Navy's effort to defeat Nazi Germany's most powerful warship.
SINK THE BISMARCK: Full Synopsis - In 1941 Captain Jonathan Shepard takes over as Director of Operations at naval headquarters in London just as they receive reports that the Bismarck, the pride of the German navy, is going out to sea in the North Atlantic. Shepard argues in favor of moving as many ships as possible to the area to find her. In their first encounter with the Bismarck, the Royal Navy loses HMS Hood, the largest ship in the fleet while HMS Prince of Wales is severely damaged. Shepard then transfers ships from the Mediterranean fleet to go after Bismarck; they include the aircraft carrier Ark Royal on which his son Tom is serving as an aircraft gunner. Damaged in a second encounter, the Bismarck heads for Brest on the French coast and the safety of German coastal defenses and air cover. The only ship in range is the Ark Royal but in their first air sortie, they inadvertently attack HMS Sheffield when they mistake it for the Bismarck. In the second air sortie, they damage the Bismarck sufficiently to allow the surface fleet to catch up to her and sink her.

SYNOPSIS (ENG)
For years, the stories of West African migrants and refugees have been told through the lenses of foreign journalists. Now there is a story from the inside.
Part road-trip, part memoir, part journalistic investigation, REVENIR follows Kumut Imesh, a refugee from the Ivory Coast now living in France, as he returns to the African continent and attempts to retrace the same journey that he himself took when forced to flee civil war in his country … But this time with a camera in his hand.
Traveling alone, Kumut will be documenting his own journey; both as the main protagonist in front of the camera, as well as the person behind it, revealing the human struggle for freedom and dignity on one of the most dangerous migratory routes in the world.
A controversial film experiment, a courageous journey and a unique collaboration between filmmaker and refugee; which is not without consequences.
SYNOPSIS (FR)

Many skeptics try to use dinosaurs as a weapon to fight against the faith of Christianity. Can the Bible withstand the onslaught of all of the overwhelming evidence? How is it possible to mix the Bible with the existence of these so-called prehistoric creatures?
Dinosaurs and the Bible, part three of the creation seminar series, pursues the Biblical and historical references to an explanation that just may surprise you. Follow the clues and find out how dinosaurs trace back to the original Creation. See how they survived the flood. Listen to first hand Biblical accounts and see the impact of the possibility of a few dinosaurs still being alive today? Discover the truth about dinosaurs and how God is using them to bring glory to His name.
Dr. Kent Hovind, founder of Creation Science Evangelism, is dedicated to proclaiming scientific evidence which supports the Biblical account of a literal six-day creation. As guest lecturer for public and private schools, universities, churches, camps, debates, and TV and radio programs, he has been traveling internationally giving seminars on creation verses evolution since 1989. His extensive study and research make Dr. Hovind one of the world's foremost authorities on science and the Bible.

Kent Hovind - Seminar 2 - The Garden of Eden [MULTISUBS]
SUBTITLES:
Afrikaans, Albanian, Chinese_CS, Chinese_CT, Croatian, Danish, English, Estonian, French, German, Hebrew, Indonesian, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil (available soon)
The Garden of Eden describes the earth as it was before the worldwide flood, how it was possible for man to live over 900 years, for plants and animals to grow much larger than today and for dinosaurs to thrive along with man
Also discussed are faulty theories such as the Gap Theory and the Day Age Theory and how these relate to the original creation. While answering questions about pre-flood oxygen and hyperbaric chambers, about giants and cave men, and about pre-flood diets, Dr. Hovind gives assurance that the Bible can be trusted as an accurate account of historical and scientific events.
