Paluma Dam (aka Lake Paluma)
Lake Paluma is a drinking water storage facility owned by NQ Water and is situated close to Mount Spec, high above the Paluma Range National Park.
Lake Paluma is nestled among world heritage-listed wet tropics rainforest. Access to the lake is via a 12 kilometre gravel road from the township of Paluma.
The Lake is a drinking water storage and offers unique opportunities for day visitors and campers to spend time in a biologically diverse rainforest environment.
You can camp at Paluma Dam or just come for the Day.
Has tables to set and even place to cook BBQ.
You can swim in the dam or Kayak
Non-motorised vessels such as kayaks and canoes are ideal for finding the elusive platypus that live in the backwaters of the Lake.
Paddle up any one of the small creeks entering the Lake. You may surprise an Eastern Water Dragon sunning itself on overhanging branches. These dragons will usually drop into the water as soon as they see you - so keep an eye out.
There are no significant fish species in Lake Paluma. The slightly acidic, low nutrient waters of the Lake are not suitable for most fish species. A small population of Spangled Perch is all that remains of a stocking program which also included Brown Trout.

Kawasaki Ninja 300 Ride upwards on Paluma Range National Park
A very early morning ride going upwards at the Paluma Range, National Park, North of Townsville, Queensland on-board the Ninja 300, camera mounted to the front Axel , and it makes the road look a lot wider then it actually is. The vast majority of it is single lane width but they decided to paint a centre line on it.
If you go over the edge, your history, a lot of it has sheer drop off's and others have drove their cars off the edge and been lost for days & others haven't been so fortunate
This is one road you want to treat with respect
I was out there very early in the morning infact in some of the turns you can see my headlight shine on the ground, i went early to avoid traffic.im so glad i did.
