PAMUKKALE THERMAL POOLS | TURKEY | VLOG
Wow, what a place!
The Pamukkale thermal springs are a UNESCO world heritage site and were honestly so unique and surreal to any other place! The white clay and ice coloured water made it seem like we were on a snowy mountain, only the water was hot and the ground was very soft.
We spent hours playing around in these pools, giving each other face masks, having clay fights, and drawing clay patterns on our bodies. This will definitely be an experience I will remember for a long time.

Hot Air Balloon Ride Turkey + Pamukkale Thermal Pools | Turkey Vlog | Travel Talk Tours #3
We finally got to take a hot air balloon ride in Turkey! In this travel vlog we're also at Pamukkale thermal pools with Travel Talk Tours and...⬇ More Below ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop —
What more could we want - a hot air balloon ride and Pamukkale hot thermal pools in one day! A hot air balloon ride in Turkey has been on our bucket list forever. We're on a Travel Talk Tour around Turkey and in our last travel vlog from Cappadocia we were sad that we didn't get the chance to go on the hot air balloon because of weather... in this vlog that changed!
It was lucky for us that Travel Talk have a back up option in Pamukkale, before the thermal pools, if the hot air balloons are cancelled in Cappdocia - which seems to be pretty common at this time of year.
After waiting so long to take a hot air balloon ride, was it worth the wait to do it in Turkey? Hell to the yeah it was! It would have been that bit more special in Cappadocia, but Pamukkale made for a special place as well.
Here's the trip we're taking with Travel Talk Tours around Turkey for 11 days —

Hierapolis Pamukkale (Turkey) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Hierapolis Pamukkale in Turkey.
In the highlands of western Turkey is the ancient city of Hierapolis above the famous terraces of Pamukkale, a unique wonder of nature that was well appreciated by those who lived there in ancient times. In summer the water glimmers turquoise and in winter clouds of steam rise from the pools to produce the effect of a frozen waterfall. The reason for the origin of this bizarre landscape is the steaming hot water, rich in calcium, that flows from the higher lying geothermal mountain springs. Visitors walk barefoot in order to protect the deposits of calcium carbonate in the water. Today it is permitted to bathe in the famous spring of the ancients in which one can enjoy the ‘holy water’ that extends between the toppled columns of a bygone age. The ancient fossilised waterfalls and terraced pools have transformed Pamukkale into a fantastic scene. Together with the ruined monuments of both Hellenic and Roman times, Hierapolis can be regarded as THE health resort of the ancients, notwithstanding those who came there during the past three thousand years.

Pamukkale thermal pools ( cotton castle) hierapolis antique pool turkey (part4)
#pamukkalethermalpool#heiraoplisantiquepools#pamukkaleturkey#cottoncastle
Worldly famous Pamukkale, also called ‘cotton castle’, is located at the southern banks of the Hierapolis Ancient City in Turkey. Since thousand of years, the water got colder and solid as it got farer from the calcareous hot water source and formed the travertine terraces in the shape of floors and steps. There is “radon gas” in Pamukkale Travertine and this gas has a relaxing effect for people. Besides being a unique natural phenomenon, Pamukkale Travertine can be used for healing purposes as hot springs
Pamukkale and Hierapolis together are both recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1988. They have all the conditions required for an ideal touristic resort. Pamukkale is very well known with the entrancing beauty of its unique geological formation and also with its historical remains. Entrance information can be found here.
The white cotton-like terraces are mineral deposits which come from Cal Mountain’s rich spring waters and volcanic springs that were saved since thousand years. The water runs down the travertine and fill them up with water and there is a pool where you can have a chance to swim among the ancient Roman columns. The ancient city of Hierapolis was located on the top of the white terraces and is about 2700 meters long and 160m high. It can be seen from the hills on the opposite side of the valley. It has 14000 year-old existence.
Pamukkale travertine is a type of limestone deposited at the mouth of the spring. Thermal sources on an important fault line of western Anatolia in Pamukkale are warmed up by subterranean heat and come out at 33-36 C. The water contains calcium hydro carbonate. Tectonic movements triggered frequent earthquakes in this area and gave rise to the emergence of a number of very hot springs. The water from these springs created Pamukkale with its large mineral content. When the hot water is in touch with the carbon dioxide, it starts to lose its warmth and also the carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide are released in to the air. As a result the calcium carbonate is precipitated. So the water forms magnificent viewed travertine.
There is a high amount of calcium and carbon dioxide in the combination of the water. Water channels carry water which comes out of the ground arrives to the terraces. But before water channels were built, water used to reach travertine by natural channels formed by running warm water. Because of the calcium in water, objects such as branch of a tree or a stone piece left in the flowing water are whitened in a short time.
Deriving from springs in a cliff almost 200 m high overlooking the plain, calcite-laden waters have created at Pamukkale (Cotton Palace) an unreal landscape, made up of mineral forests, petrified waterfalls and a series of terraced basins. At the end of the 2nd century B.C. the dynasty of the Attalids, the kings of Pergamon, established the thermal spa of Hierapolis. The ruins of the baths, temples and other Greek monuments can be seen at the site.

There isn't anywhere else you can do that except for Pamukkale's gorgeous natural thermal water travertines.
Well, I don't know why I chose to describe the Pamukkale's hot springs as winter wonderland in summer. I mean, Pamukkale means Cotton Castle in turkish, so I should be saying I was walking up a hill of cotton candy?
