Panagia tou Sinti - Venetian Period Monastery in Cyprus
Panagia tou Sinti is an ancient abandoned Orthodox Monastery in Cyprus. It is located 35 km from Paphos near the village Pentalia. The Monastery was built in the 16th century and was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The Monastery was in use until 1927. In 1994 Restoration of the Monastery began which was completed in 1997 and earned the Europa Nostra Award. It is considered the most important structure from the Venetian Period in Cyprus.

This abandoned monastery is situated on the banks of the Xeros River. The 16th century central nave is in good condition and considered one of the most important buildings of the Venetian period. In 1987 it received the Europa Nostra Award for the restoration and conservation work carried out on it.

Panayia tou Sinti (or Panagia tou Sinti) is a beautiful church on the west bank of Xeros river, near Paphos. Reconstruction work received the Europa Nostra prize in the 90s. An excellent tourist destination, and can be combined with many cultural and natural attractions in the area, including Paphos Forest, picturesque villages eg. Salamiou, Mesana, Arminou, Trachypedoula, Kelokedara, etc, and the venetian medieval bridges of Roudias and Kelephos.
PANAGIA OF SINTIS (4K)
The Panagia tou Sinti Monastery is located a few kilometers away from Pentalia Village, on the banks of Xeros river. The monastery was built during the Venetian occupation and now is abandoned, but received an Europa Nostra Award for restauration in 1997. The cobbled stoned yard and the old walls makes this place one unique, but, unfortunately not well known...

Panagia Tou Sinti Monastery is an amazing abandoned monastery that is located on the banks of the river Xeros in the Paphos region.
This central nave of the Panagia Tou Sinit Monastery dates back to the 16th century and is still today in excellent condition mainly due to some excellent restoration work.
Its one of the most important buildings of the Venetian period in Cyprus.
It received the Europa Nostra award for the restoration and conservation work that has been carried out.
The monastery was restored by UNESCO and is today a World Cultural Heritage Site.

Kykkos Monastery, which lies 20 km west of Pedoulas, is one of the best-known and wealthiest monasteries in Cyprus. The monastery lies at an altitude of 1318 meters on the north west face of Troodos Mountains. There are no remains of the original monastery as it was burned down many times.
The Holy Monastery of the Virgin of Kykkos was founded around the end of the 11th century by the Byzantine emperor Alexios I Komnenos (1081–1118).
The first President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III started his ecclesiastical career there as a monk in 1926. He remained fond of the place and returned there many times. His request to be buried Kykkos Monastery is one of the best-known and wealthiest monasteries in Cyprus. Welcome to Motorcycle ride Cyprus and part two of our ride from Panagia in the Pafos forest to Kato Pygros on the Polis coast .
We are now out of the Pafos forest where we can see the awesome mountain views as we ride on the twisting cliff edge roads, making our way through the village of Kampos and on to the picnic site.
