Arvalem / Harvalem Waterfalls, Rudreshwar Temple & Pandava Caves. Sanquelim, Goa.
Harvalem Arvalem Waterfall & Pandava Caves in Goa
Havalem (ARVALEM) Waterfall & Pandava Caves In Goa
PANDAVA CAVES :
It is believed that the Pandava brothers - Yudhisthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva - from the epic of Mahabharatha lived here during their 12 years of exile! The caves have five separate compartments, which is why this story gets more leverage. Out of the five compartments, 3 of them have a shrine with the middle one comprising the main shrine of a shivalinga. Due to which some believe that the caves have a Hindu origin. However, some scholars speculate that the Caves have a Buddhist origin, since excavations made nearby revealed a large statue of Mahaveer Gautama Buddha which dates back to the 4th century.
ARVALEM WATERFALL :
The Arvalem waterfalls are one of them. Located just about 1.5 km from the caves is the mystical Arvalem Falls. It gushes out in an undomesticated plunge from a height of 70 ft. The magnificent fall forms a pool or a lake, which is a beloved spot for swimmers. It is also a popular picnic spot among the visitors. The Rudreshwar Temple situated nearby is usually visited by tourists or visitors who come to witness the picturesque fall.
Best time to visit the waterfall is in the monsoon season as you can experience the waterfall at its best
However you can visit the spot any time of the year.
Timings :
The cave is open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm, with a break of one hour between 1 pm to 2 pm in the afternoon.

Rivona Caves in South Goa Hinterlands
Rivona Caves in the village of Rivona in South Goa, 25 km South East of Margao. Natural caves that have been further carved by man to make them suitable for meditation. There is one large cave with a platform that was probably used by a preacher. On the side is a smaller, narrower cave which may have been used for deeper meditations, it was really dark and humid there. On the other side of the road is a second Rivona Cave which is smaller but better preserved. It is on the campus of Jeevottam Partagali Mutt.
This is the spiritual past of the sunshine state of Goa. Do visit it along with Pansoimol Petroglyphs.

great,amazing,awesome Goa ...
Goa is a state in India within the coastal region known as the Konkan in Western India. It is bounded by Maharashtra to the north and Karnataka to the east and south, with the Arabian Sea forming its Western coast. It is India's smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population. Goa has the highest GDP per capita among all Indian states, that is two and a half times that of the country.
Panaji is the state's capital, while Vasco da Gama is its largest city. The city of Margao still exhibits the cultural influence of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants and conquered it soon thereafter. Goa is a former Portuguese province; the Portuguese overseas territory of Portuguese India existed for about 450 years until it was annexed by India in 1961.

Goa - Rivona caves
The Rivona Caves also known as the Pandava caves are situated in the village of Rivona in South Goa at about 5 km northeast of Ponda. They are considered to be dug in the 6th or 7th century by the Buddhist monks.
At the Buddhist caves at Rivona one can see a Pitha, which is carved out of laterite and is believed to have served as the seat of the teacher. The caves are also considered one of the few examples of Buddhist influence visible in Goa today.
The main opening to the caves is next to a small stepped well or tank at the bottom of the rock. This is flanked by a 16th century bas-relief of Hanuman, the Hindu monkey God and leads to the cell on the upper level.
The caves at Rivona are fairly unknown and one may have to ask around a bit to get to the right direction. To get to Rivona however it is quite easy as by road, Rivona is well connected with Quepem and Margao.

During this period, the original villagers come back to relive their memories and gather around their respective places of worship.
