Bishkek's beautiful Panfilov Park | Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek is an incredible city – it almost feels like a town on the Mediterranean. The centre is quite small so it can easily be explored in a day, and it's totally worth it to see all the Soviet art.

Panfilov Park, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
The best view of Bishkek! We went for the ferris wheel to see the city. This is a tiny amusement park in the city centre, surrounded by governmental buildings and statues.

Old People Dancing in Panfilov Park, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
A leafy autumn day gives way to a somber dance in Panfilov Park, in the heart of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Note that most of the dancers are Russians, left over in this Asian republic from the days of the Soviet Union

Parks of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan - Бишкек
Of all the great things Bishkek has to offer, the beautiful city parks are at the top of my list.
Each time I've visited the legendary capital of Kyrgyzstan, I've started my morning off with a walk through the parks. Spring and summer are my favorite seasons in Bishkek.
During the springtime, the lush flower beds begin to bloom. In the summer, leafy trees provide much appreciated shade from the hot sun.
There are carts selling ice cream and drinks. Elderly and young alike congregate in the parks to relax. They're especially popular with couples in love, creating storybook romance scenes.
Old women use makeshift brooms to clean the leaves from the pathways. Statues provide a watchful and reassuring eye over the parks.
These photos were taken early in the morning after Kyrgyzstan's independence day celebration.

Bishkek-Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek is the capital of Kyrgyzstan, and has a population of about one million people. Bishkek is located in the Chuy Valley, at the northern edge of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too Range, at about 800 m (2,625 feet) above sea level.
The first mention of Bishkek was the fortress of Pishpek, constructed in 1825 by the Khanate of Kokand. Pishpek was built to protect caravan routes carrying goods between Tashkent and Lake Issyk-Kul, across the Chuy Valley. After a battle between Russian imperial troops and the Khanate of Kokand in 1860, the fort was destroyed and the area became the edge of the Russian Empire. In 1897, the population of Pishpek was a total of 6,600 people, and rather than being a city, was more like a dusty village of mud houses.
Under Soviet rule, the city developed rapidly. In 1925, Pishpek became the capital of the Kara-Kirghiz Autonomous Oblast, the precursor of today’s Kyrgyzstan. In 1926, Pishpek became Frunze, named after the revolutionary and military leader Mikhail Frunze, who was born there. Frunze can still be seen in the city’s airport code - FRU. In 1991, the city was renamed once again, to Bishkek. According to experts, “bishkek” is the stick used for churning mare’s milk for the traditional fermented drink, kumis.
Today, Bishkek is one of the major cities of Central Asia, and is the largest city in Kyrgyzstan. The population numbers over one million, with over 80 nationalities represented. The main language of international communication is Russian, but Kyrgyz and English are very widespread.
Sights Overview
There are several major museums in Bishkek, the most interesting of which are the Historical Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Frunze House Museum. Check out performances by the Opera and Ballet Theater, the Russian and Kyrgyz Drama Theaters, the Bishkek City Drama Theater, and the State Philharmonic. There are also a number of venues where pop musicians play, as well as art exhibitions, music festivals, and plenty of interesting events.
There are plenty of places that showcase Bishkek’s unique history. There are several monuments to Soviet architecture in the city center, including Ala-Too Square, the Historical Museum, Philharmonia, and several monuments, such as a Monument to the Red Guards and a Monument to the Martyrs of the Revolution. Check out other newer monuments to Manas, manaschy (those who recite the Epic of Manas), and to those killed by government violence in 2002 and 2010. Bishkek is also famous for being one of the greenest cities in Central Asia, with Oak Park, Erkindik Boulevard, and Panfilov Park being popular destinations in the summer.

Our visit Bishkek travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (best restaurants and street food), top museums and the city by day. 15 things to do in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Greetings from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan! Hello from Central Asia. It is our first time here and we are going to be spending a few days here in the capital. So we're going to take you on a little tour and show you fifteen things to do around Bishkek.
First up, we visited Ala-Too Square, which is the central plaza in Bishkek. While there isn’t much to do here, it’s one of the city’s major landmarks, plus they also have lots of benches and water fountains where you can take a quick break. From there, we crossed the street and made our way over to the State Historical Museum.
Another place you’ll want to visit in Bishkek is the Osh Bazaar. It may not be the biggest in Central Asia, but it’s a bustling maze where you could easily spend a few hours. We had no problems at the market, but we were warned by several locals to ignore the fake police who may ask to see documents and camera permits. So keep that in mind if you encounter them!
It is shopping time. Next up we're at the Osh bazaar and you can find everything here. We're seen fresh produce, snacks, chocolates, clothes. Right behind me we have an entire aisle dedicated to dry cheese balls.
Directly across from the abandoned casino, you’ll find Victory monument which was built to commemorate the 40th anniversary of World War 2. The three curved arcs represent a yurt, and the sculpture of a woman standing near the eternal flame is meant to symbolize her waiting for her husband and sons to return from the war.
We missed the start of opera and ballet season by just a few days, however, if you’re in the city at the right time.
And if you’re craving a short escape from Bishkek, you can always plan a day hike to the nearby mountains with the Trekking Union.
As far as food goes, there’s plenty to sample ranging from grilled meats to dumplings, and noodles to mixed rice, plus there was one drink that really left an impression on us.
With our time in Bishkek winding down, we made a visit to Oak Park which is full of sculptures, and then we also visited nearby Panfilov Park.
And that’s a wrap for our trip to Bishkek. As you can probably tell from this video, this city is the kind of place that you experience as opposed to ticking off attractions, so it ended up being a fairly relaxing trip after a few busy weeks of travel around Kyrgyzstan. As always, if you have any suggestions of things to do in Bishkek, feel free to share your tips with fellow travellers in the comments section below. See you next time!

Kazakhstan Beautiful Relaxing City Almaty-Panfilov Park Part 13

Panfilov Park Almaty:
The Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen is a major park in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The park is located in east-central Almaty in the area surrounding Zenkov Cathedral. It is dedicated to and named after the Panfilov Heroes, 28 soldiers of an Almaty infantry unit who died fighting Nazi German invaders outside of Moscow in World War II. The group takes its name from Ivan Panfilov, the General commanding the 316th division which, in spite of heavy casualties, believed at that time managed to significantly delay the Germans' advance on the capital, buying time for the defenders of the city. An eternal flame commemorating the fallen of the Russian Civil War and the Great Patriotic War burns in front of the giant black monument of soldiers from all 15 Soviet republics.
There was a suggestion to rename the current existing name for the park due to the July 2015 publications by the State Archive of the Russian Federation that the military newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda had concocted the story's details of the heroic story. However, there are no considerations by the city officials in renaming the park.
Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek . Travel to Kyrgyzstan.
Ferris wheel in Panfilov Park is the biggest wheel in Bishkek - with a height of 50 meters.
It has 16 cabins, 8 of which are partially open and 8 are completey set of with window panes.
The heating system works inside, so it gives an opportunity to explore Bishkek from the height of bird's flight even during winter time.
A new attraction is constantly changing color and lighting modes. At the evening it looks very impressive.

142.Park of 28 Panfilov guardsmen
This park received its name on May 5, 1942 in honor of Panfilov division and Almaty people who stopped the fascist tanks near Moscow. The park’s history goes back to 1875. The park changed its name many times since then. It used to be a Starokladbischensky park, Pushkin Gardens, Federation Park, etc.
Back in the 1970s the city had an interesting tradition. There is a diplomatic protocol designed for honored guests. This protocol offers to the guests to plant a blue spruce tree along the central path of the park as a symbol of their stay in Almaty and as a dedication to military glory and patriotism of Kazakh people.
The park has a path honoring the heads of states. The trees along that path were planted by the leaders of Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, etc.
There is a memorial of Fame dedicated to the participants of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War, the Cathedral Ascension Cathedral, Museum of national musical instruments in the park.
