Danielle is a born and bred South African and has a deep-rooted love for Africa and the world’s wilder places and growing up, no opportunity was missed to explore the hidden treasures of South Africa and its’ neighbouring countries on vacations with her family. She completed her degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Pretoria but exchanged the city life for a life closer to the bush and settled in Nelspruit. After completing The New York Institute of Photography’s Professional Photography course, her passion grew into a career and she has since freelanced as a photographic guide in the Timbavati and Klaserie regions as well as in Botswana’s Chobe and Mashatu Game Reserves. She enjoys travelling and has explored various corners of the world of which Madagascar, Namibia, Sudan and Peru were photographically rewarding.
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presented itself when she was appointed as one of Pangolin’s full-time photographic hosts in 2019 and she can now share in the joy of capturing the world’s most unique wildlife with other like-minded photographers.

Chobe River Cruise with Pangolin Photo Safaris
Wildlife sightings on two Chobe River Cruises with Pangolin Photo Safaris.
We decided to join Pangolin Photo Safaris for a morning and an afternoon cruise and weren´t disappointed. The afternoon cruise has the big elephant herds, a beautiful sunset and tons of other boats, whereas the morning cruise shows the river of his calm side. Hundreds of colourful birds, crocodiles that try to heat up and lonesome elephant bulls...

SLOW SHUTTER SPEED. Photographing a Pied Kingfisher hovering in the air with Guts
In this video, we join Pangolin Photo Co-Founder Guts, as he demonstrates different ways of shooting a hovering Pied Kingfisher - using shutter speed to great effect. The Chobe River, Chobe National Park, Botswana.
'The pied kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) is a water bird and is found widely distributed across Africa. Its black and white plumage, crest and the habit of hovering over clear lakes and rivers before diving for fish make it distinctive.' Africa Geographic

The Chobe is home to an incredibly dense population of African Fish Eagles. Most breeding Fish Eagle pairs will have two chicks at a time and with the large amount of Barbel (catfish) in the river fishing takes up less of the day. Thus both chicks tend to survive and the population grows exponentially.
All our game activities – on the Chobe River and on land within The Chobe National Park are hosted by the Pangolin Photo Hosts who feature in these films.

Born and raised in Germany, Sabine Stols used to be quite the city girl. All that changed when Sabine took a summer job on a cruise vessel where she met her South African husband Charl. Travelling the world together for several years as a photography and videography team they both fell in love with the diversity and richness of nature.
Being most passionate about wildlife photography, they spent most of their vacation in the National Parks of South Africa. Lucky for them, the passion became a dream job in 2015 when they were offered positions as photographic hosts by Pangolin Photo Safaris.
Based in Kasane, Botswana they now guide anyone enthusiastic about photography and nature on photographic safaris and workshops in Chobe National Park and other wild places of Africa.
Sabine is using a Canon 1Dx MK II with a Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II lens.
