DRESDEN 1945 führt Sie im Maßstab 1:1 auf eine Zeitreise in die Elbmetropole unmittelbar nach den Bombardements von 1945. Der 15 Meter hohe Besucherturm ermöglicht Ihnen dabei einen Rundumblick vom Dresdner Rathausturm und lässt Sie so die Ausmaße der Zerstörung im knapp 3.000 Quadratmeter großen Panorama von Yadegar Asisi überblicken. Das Projekt thematisiert jedoch nicht allein die Tragödie Dresdens, sondern verweist mit Hilfe mehrerer Stelen auf die verschiedenen Wechselwirkungen in der kriegerischen europäischen Geschichte. So wurden 1945 neben zahlreichen deutschen Städten auch viele weitere europäische Städte wie Rotterdam, Coventry, Stalingrad oder Warschau zerstört.

The Leipzig Panometer is an attraction in Leipzig, Germany. It is a visual panorama displayed inside a former gasometer, accompanied by a thematic exhibition. The current theme is the Titanic. The Panometer was created in 2003 by the Austrian-born artist Yadegar Asisi, who coined the name as a portmanteau of panorama and gasometer. He opened another Panometer in Dresden in 2006. His panoramas are also displayed in Berlin, Pforzheim, Wittenberg and Rouen.
The Leipzig Panometer occupies a disused telescopic gas holder in Connewitz. The gasometer was built in 1909, under Hugo Licht, and was in operation until 1977. It has a diameter of 57 metres (187 ft) and a total height of 49 metres (161 ft), including the cupola with lantern. From 2002–05 it was renovated to allow the transformation into Asisi's panoramic display. The final step was the addition of a glass foyer, which connects it to an adjacent gasometer and also contains the restaurant.
So far the panoramic pictures have been 105 metres (344 ft) in circumference and around 30 metres (98 ft) in height, making them currently the largest such pictures in the world. (The one in Dresden is slightly less tall.) Digital technology is used to combine photos, drawings and paintings into a single large picture file, which is then printed onto individual strips of textile. The strips are combined into a circular picture which is then hung up as a single piece. The panorama is viewed from a raised platform in the centre. Perspective distortion is used to create an impression of space.

Das Panometer Leipzig befindet sich im Süden der Stadt. Künstler Yadegar Asisi erfand 2003 eine neue Art des Panoramamuseums und nutzte dafür den leerstehenden Gasspeicher. Dieser wurde früher zur Energieversorgung Leipzigs genutzt. Heute ist er Ausstellungsort für die weltgrößten 360°-Panoramen.
Die ARENA am PANOMETER befindet sich direkt nebenan, wird parallel für Open-Air-Veranstaltungen genutzt und kann zusätzlich mit einer Veranstaltung im Panometer kombiniert werden.

Leipzig is a city in the eastern German state of Saxony. On central Marktplatz, the Renaissance old town hall houses the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Leipzig, chronicling city history. Composer J.S. Bach is buried in the late-Gothic St. Thomas Church, known for concerts by its boys’ choir. St. Nicholas Church was a meeting point for the “Monday Demonstrations,” which led to the 1989 overthrow of communism.
'Hypezig!' cry the papers, 'the New Berlin', says just about everybody. Yes, Leipzig is Saxony's coolest city, a playground for nomadic young creatives who have been displaced even by the fast-gentrifying German capital, but it's also a city of enormous history, a trade-fair mecca and solidly in the sights of music lovers due to its intrinsic connection to the lives and work of Bach, Mendelssohn and Wagner.
To this day, one of the world's top classical bands (the Gewandhausorchester) and oldest and finest boys' choirs (the 800-year-old Thomanerchor) continue to delight audiences. When it comes to art, the neo-realistic New Leipzig School has stirred up the international art world with such protagonists as Neo Rauch and Tilo Baumgärtel for well over 10 years. Leipzig is known as the Stadt der Helden (City of Heroes) for its leading role in the 1989 ‘Peaceful Revolution’ that led to the reunification of Germany.
Leipzig acquired the nickname Klein Paris (Little Paris) in the 18th century, when it became a center of a classical literary movement largely led by the German scholar and writer Johann Christoph Gottsched. The city is also the home of the Nikolaikirche (Church of St. Nicholas) – the starting point of peaceful demonstrations against the communist regime which led to German Reunification. The collapse of communism hit Leipzig's economy very heavily (as did communism itself), but after being on the mend for over twenty years, it has emerged as one of the success stories of the New German States.
Traces of Leipzig's history are everywhere: the ring of streets around the city center marking the former course of the city wall, the city trade houses, abandoned and repurposed industrial buildings in Plagwitz, small town structures in the outskirts where surrounding towns were incorporated during phases of rapid growth, the battlefields of the Napoleonic wars in the south and southeast of the city, and much, much more.
