???? Almost slipped from the 17th floor Panorama Riga Observation Deck!!!
Went to check out Riga from the top and I nearly slipped! After we went to buy some berries (it is season time here)... they were delicious, we went to the Latvian Academy of Sciences (better known as Panorama Riga). If you are going there ask the locals for the LAS as they do not know it as Panorama Riga. We paid Eur5 (much more as a donation) as we could have sneaked our way through the lifts (the ticket lady was not there) hahaha. The view from the 17th floor is stunning. Go Check it out!

Riga in 3 days (Latvia)
Riga, Latvia.
Riga was the first destination of our trip and we spent there 72 hours (3 days) in the capital of Latvia.
We were very lucky because the weather was amazing and very sunny.
As far as I'm concerned the best attractions in Riga are the amazing National Library of Latvia with its stunning architecture and St. Peter’s Church with its observatory. From there you can enjoy an amazing view of the city.
Another nice spot to see the city from the top is the Panorama Riga Observation Deck or, if you also want to have a drink, there is the rooftop Skyline bar located at the 26th floor of the Radisson Blu Hotel.
In Riga there are so many interesting things to see and to do:
The Cathedral of Riga, Nativity of Christ Cathedral, the House of the Blackheads, the houses The Three Brothers, Livu Square, Albert Street and the Art Nouveau District, The Musée Art Nouveau, Vermanes Park, The Freedom Monument, The Central Market, Art museum, War museum, Kgb Building, Riga Ghetto, the Latvian Holocaust Museum...
If you enjoy drinking you could try the traditional herbal liqueur: The Black Balsam.

Radio and TV Tower in ???????? Riga, Latvia
Gorgeous Riga Radio and TV Tower is the tallest structure in the Baltic countries and in the European Union. It was built between 1979 and 1986 with funding from the central government of the Soviet Union. Its highest point reaches 368.5 m (1,209 ft), which makes it the third tallest tower in Europe (after the Ostankino Tower at 540 metres (1,772 ft) and the Kiev TV Tower at 385 metres (1,263 ft)) and the 14th tallest tower in the world. There is an observation platform at the height of 97 m, from which most of the city can be seen (and in good weather, the Gulf of Riga, and many of the city surroundings).
The tower is built on an island called Zaķusala in the middle of the River Daugava, and the base of the tower is located about 7 m above mean sea level. The tower is said to be able to withstand extreme winds up to 44 m/s (98 mph) without any noticeable vibration. There are two elevators, one in the north-east pillar and one in the south-west pillar. The third pillar contains a staircase.
Fun Facts: According to rumors, at the first TV Tower project, it was tallest in Soviet Unioin (higher then Ostankino Tower (Moscow)). Project was rejected and tower height reduced because tallest TV and Radio Tower should be ONLY in capital of USSR.

Academy of Sciences, Riga, Latvia
24 September 2015 - The 17th floor of the Latvian Academy of Sciences (Latvijas Zinātņu akadēmija) boasts a spectacular viewing deck from where you get panoramic views over the entire city and can get great vantage points of many landmarks. This was my first stop in Riga after checking in my hostel, owing to the great weather and clear skies. One thing I learned while in the Baltics - you have to take advantage of the good weather when it's present, because it can change rather quickly!
(Note: Apologies for the abrupt cut off at the end of the video. I had run out of memory on my iPod.)
