BREATHTAKING PANORAMA ROUTE | Sabie, South Africa Tourism
Experience the picturesque beauty of nature in and around Sabie - a small country town nestled in the majestic Drakensberg escarpment mountains of the Mpumalanga province, South Africa.Sabie is less than four hours drive from Gauteng and the OR Tambo International Airport, a relaxing hour's drive to and from the Kruger National Park, and within minutes from a number of spectacular waterfalls in pristine mountain streams.Within a 10km radius of Sabie are a selection of truly beautiful natural waterfalls, some of which include delightful walks through the forests. There are many picturesque routes to neighbouring towns such as White River, Hazyview and Graskop.Sabie is located on the Panorama Route which is one of the scenic highlights of any tour through South Africa. Stretching along the escarpment it includes some magnificent tourist attractions such as Blyde River Canyon, with its famous Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window, the Three Rondavels, and the nearby historic 1800’s gold mining town – Pilgrims Rest. The summer climate in Sabie is delightful – warm days and cooler nights (temperatures between about 14 and 30) whilst winters are even better, with early morning mists curling through the mountains, followed by warm dry days and crisp cold nights when the stars seem close enough to touch.

Panorama Route - Rondavels, Potholes, Waterfalls, Windows and Pinnacles, Oh My! | Honeymoon VLOG 3
After an incredible 4 days at Elephant Plains in the Sabi Sands Private Reserve, we reluctantly packed our bags and hit the road to do the longest detour ever by spending two days along South Africa's famous Panorama Route.
The route took us to a number of sightseeing spots which were all incredible to see in person and fly the drone where I could but overall we had a great time taking a short break from safari to drive around this beautiful part of the country that follows Blyde River Canyon that was almost a mini Grand Canyon I felt.
We end off this vlog at Kruger Gate which is where the next one picks off from. Stay tuned for more!

The second part of our trip. We stayed in Graskop, along the Panorama Route between Hoedspruit and Hazyview. We did a nice hiking trail in the mountains, to an old hydro power station, which has been totally abandoned.

God's window+Three Rondavels+Wonderview - Panorama Route
With magnificent views, canyons, rock formations and waterfalls, God's Window is truly an area of breathtaking scenic splendour. It is no wonder that Mpumalanga is known as Paradise Country.
Gods Window is so called for the panoramic view of the Lowveld more than 900 m down into lush indigenous forest clad ravine. The majestic cliffs plunge over 700 meters to the Lowveld and the private game reserves which have made the area one of South Africa's main wildlife destinations. God's Window is a small part of a 250km long earthwork of sheer cliffs and extravagant beauty. One can observe the hills and forests as far as the eye can see. In fact, it seems as if one can see forever!
Exactly as they sound, the Three Rondavels are three round mountain tops with slightly pointed tops, very similar to the traditional round or oval African homesteads made with local materials called rondavels. They are sometimes also called the Three Sisters (although this confuses them with a similar threesome visible from the N1 in the Free State lower down in the country).
Wonder View is the highest viewpoint on the Panorama Route and offers a 180 degree view over the Lowveld. The drop down to the Lowveld from the Panorama Route is approximately 900 m. On a clear day it is possible to see the Kruger National Park and the Lebombo mountain range in the distance.
