The Battle of Paoli was a battle in the Philadelphia campaign of the American Revolutionary War fought on September 20, 1777, in the area surrounding present-day Malvern, Pennsylvania. Following the American retreats at the Battle of Brandywine and the Battle of the Clouds, George Washington left a force under Brigadier General Anthony Wayne behind to monitor and harass the British as they prepared to move on the revolutionary capital of Philadelphia. On the evening of September 20, British forces under Major General Charles Grey led a surprise attack on Wayne's encampment near the Paoli Tavern. Although there were relatively few American casualties, claims were made that the British took no prisoners and granted no quarter, and the engagement became known as the Paoli Massacre.

One of the bloodiest battles took place in the Borough of Malvern, PA, as the Patriots fought against the British forces during the Revolutionary War. September 23rd, 2017, marked its 240th anniversary and with the selfless efforts by the volunteers of The Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund, under the leadership of Bruce Knapp, its President and Jim Christ, its Vice President this historic event was reenacted.

Each year, typically on the third Saturday of September, they hold a fantastic tribute to those brave soldiers that gave their life and who remain buried under one of this Nation's oldest war monuments --
affectionately known as Heritage Day Event.

Paranormal Tour, held bi-annually, in Fall and Spring, as well as Educational Bus tours to the many other Historic Sites in and around the area, and their Lecture Series, held at the fabulous and Historic General Warren Inne.

The Paoli train station in PAOLI,PA

The Paoli train station was the last place my mother saw her father in June of 1964. Although it was snowing when I took these pictures I could feel the sadness my mother felt at that last kiss good-bye. Two weeks later John Meyer passed away at 59 years old.
