Pappa Beach Ireon Samos

Papa beach is situated a few hundred meters outside Ireon and is a wonderful and relaxed place. There is a tavern near the beach and you are able to drive almost all the way up to the beach. There are sunbeds and parasols available as well as showers and a smal changing room. You will find a second beach to the left of the main beach, access to the sea is a bit more difficult at this beach.

The beaches consist of pebbles and stones, wearing some sort of bathing shoes is recommended especially if you opt for the second beach.

Clean Monday festivities in Ireon town square Samos 7.3.11

Clean Monday (Greek: Καθαρά Δευτέρα) celebrations in town square of Ireon. This occurs at the beginning of the 7th week before Orthodox Easter Sunday. Clean Monday is a public holiday in Greece and Cyprus, where it is celebrated with outdoor excursions, the consumption of shellfish and other fasting food, a special kind of azyme bread, baked only on that day, named lagana (Greek: λαγάνα) and the widespread custom of flying kites.
