Shanghai Yacht Club & Resort (SYCR) was incorporated in 2004 and has quickly become the one of the fastest growing and the most popular Club & Resort destinations in Shanghai.
SYCR is located near the Shanghai Grand View Gardens and Ethnic Heritage Village National Park, along sideDian Shan Lake, which is 60 square kilometers big, it is the largest natural lake in Shanghai. Average Depth of the lake is 2 meters or so. The coldest water temperature is about 5 degrees, warmest is 30 degrees. All over the year the wind is suitable for sailing. Only one hour’s drive from downtown Shanghai. Now 3000 family members or so have joined the club. The club operates sailing race every weekend for members and open regattas every month inviting all sailors from Shanghai and near Shanghai. The club has held some regattas of more than 200 sailors like 24hour Inner lake Regattas for 3 times, Beneteau Regattas for 2 times, inviting sailors all over the country. The club has also held 2013 National Optimist Championship, 2014 National Youth Wind Surfing Championship, 2014 National Sailing and Surfing Training Camp, 2015 Shanghai Citizens’ Sailing League.
SYCR joined National Olympic Community Sailing Project in 2007 and started youth sailing training. Until the beginning of 2015 we have trained nearly 3000 kids how to sail, helped 20000 children with their first sailing experience. SYCR is one of the Chinese High Level Sports Training Base. The club was authorized by Shanghai Sport Bureau to set up 29er49er professional sailing team in 2014, and NACRA17 professional sailing team in 2015 aiming at Olympic Games. The SYCR Nacra17 sailing team won the 2nd place in 2015 Qingdao World Cup which set a new record in China sailing history.
Dianshan lake is very suitable for beginners to learn sail. SYCR has beautiful scenery and variety of facilities for family to enjoy and energetic coaches who dedicate themselves to the sailing industry. That’s the reason why so many parents would like to take their kids to learn sailing here and at same time their kids want spend time with their parents here.
SYCR is a strategic partner with Raleigh China who focus on helping youth to develop their characters through taking part in environmental protection activities. We will always do our best to promote youth sailing and let more kids know how to protect environment through sailing.
