Luganville Espiritu Santo Vanuatu 4K
Luganville is the second largest city of the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu. We had the opportunity on our cruise with the Sun Princess for a day to get to know this area in the South Sea. We bathed in the Blue Hole Matevulu, felt the South Sea feeling on the beachfront near Luganville and snorkeled a sunken helicopter wreck from World War II. Before leaving we visited the many souvenir shops and a small local cafe, a successful day, as so often in the South Seas with little sun.

Espiritu Santo Island Vanuatu | Blue Lagoons, Port Orly, Champagne Beach
The following video will highlight how to make the most out of a day at Espiritu Santo island Vanuatu.
We highly recommend that you hire a car for the day trip. You can also hire a local driver but driving around Santo Island is so easy and there is only one main road so it was great to explore at our own pace.
Drive all the way to the North of Santo Island and make your first stop at the beautiful Port Orly Beach.
Next head back and stop at Lonnoc and the very popular Champagne Beach on Santo Island.
Lastly, check out three of the most beautiful blue holes in Santo Island: Matevulu Blue Hole, Riri Blue Hole and Nanda (or Jackie’s) Blue Hole.
Make sure to have a fair bit of cash on you as you will need to pay entrance fees to visit the beaches as well as the blue holes.
We hope you enjoyed our video on what to do on Santo Island in one day.

Relax and catch all of the sun's rays at Port Olry beach! The sand here is powdery white and the water is a crazy crystal blue. We were lucky enough to see a wild sea turtle. Free entry to the beaches. Port Olry is about a 1hr drive from Luganville Town. You can hire a taxi driver for the whole day for 8000 Vatu.

Beachfront Resort, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu Presented by Peter Bellingham Photography
A tropical setting on 6 acres with 150 metres of absolute waterfront lawns and gardens, for Luganville`s only true beach side resort located just 2 kms from town and only 15 minutes from the international airport. Far enough out from town to avoid the noise but close enough for that early business appointment, adventure trip or scuba dive.
Beachfront Resort offers excellent accommodation over-looking the sheltered waters of Segond Channel and Aore Island.
Our fully licensed restaurant, The Coolidge Bar & Grill, provides first-class food from both our regular and black board menus plus a selection of cold beers and wines all enjoyed in relaxed Melanesian style surroundings overlooking the swimming pool, lawns and ocean.
We also make the best pizzas in town - eat in or take away.
Our front desk is open 24 hours for our guests.
All our bungalows are self-contained, air conditioned and include ceiling fans, ensuite, refrigerator, kitchenette, mini bar, insect screens plus toaster and tea/coffee making facilities.
Our Lodge is available for the budget conscious traveler or groups visiting our tropical paradise.
A continental breakfast, served in our open nakamal or around the pool, is included with all our tariffs.
All rooms are serviced daily and we have plenty of secure off street parking.
Activities include adventure tours to custom villages, ride a horse along a tropical beach, scuba dive on the world's most accessible ship wreck, the SS President Coolidge, snorkel our pristine reefs or an aquatic American WW2 equipment grave site, trek through exotic jungle, hire a car and experience the island, putter around on a scooter, visit coconut plantations and blue holes, paddle a dugout canoe down a pristine river, visit WW2 wrecks, paddle a kayak to another island and explore, trek through a cave and float down a river, grab a rod and catch a big fish, take a scenic flight in a sea plane, lay back and enjoy a champagne sunset cruise around the islands or laze by the pool soaking up some rays the atmosphere.
The latest attraction is our range of two person Zego boats, twin hull for fun and stability and fitted with 30 hp outboards, these craft are great for a high speed spin around Segond Chanel or explore the rivers and coastline.
Our ADSL wifi has coverage in most areas of the resort allowing easy access to your email and for keeping up-to-date with the internet and Facebook. Enjoy a local Tanna cappuccino or laté or a cold drink whilst on line in our open nakamal with plenty of power outlets to save those precious batteries.
In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint and save costs we’ve installed a range of energy saving devices from low wattage lamps, solar hot water heaters to also recommending our local Tusker beer as the bottles are reused by the brewery and not buried. We also recycle aluminium cans †not an easy task on a small south pacific island. See the environmental page for more details.
In our restaurant we use as much locally grown, totally organic, produce as possible including Santo’s famous organic beef and seafood thus supporting Ni-Vanuatu fishermen, farmers and families and reducing our need for imported goods.
The final stages have been made to the islands hydro power generation scheme, on the Sarakata River, which now generates 70% of the towns electricity needs.

First person view video from this beautiful place in Vanuatu. Placed in Port Orly on Espiritu Santo Island. White beach and Turquoise color of the sea makes this place look like from a picture. Place is very quiet and not crowded. Most of the time I felt like only man on the Island. The beach has around 500 meter with over 10 Bungalows and few more new coming soon. You can have a lunch in one of 3 restaurants or just on the terrace of your Bungalow. There are some activities you can enjoy during your stay like Fishing with local Fishermen or just by your own with motor boat. Canoing, Horse riding, Surviving in a the Jungle and whatever you like to know or experience just ask nicely local people and they will be always happy to teach you about their lives. As a bonus I've learn many ways how to open the coconut. There is a traditional village just beside. Local school with many lovely kids who will always appreciate every time you will spend with them. People there are very nice and friendly. Sea is very calm and warm with rich underwater life. Possibility to see turtles and sea cows. If you are looking for a nice place to relax then this is perfect place for you.

Snorkelling Aore Island - Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu
Contact me if you'd like to experience some real adventures in Vanuatu: vanuatuchris@gmail.com
We spent one day snorkelling around Aore Island not too far from the jetty. The ferry to and from the island is free from Luganville. The resort on the beach front does a pretty good pizza and they have WiFi :-)
Aore Island is located in the Sanma Province, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu.
Мы провели один день просто плавая и разглядывая рыбок около острова Аоре, который всего в 10 минутах от Луганвилля на барже (бесплатно). В ресторане на берегу готовят вкусную пиццу и у них есть WiFi :)

Fanafo Indigenous Kastom Day 2014, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu
This video documents the ceremonies and activities performed during the 54th Anniversary of Fanafo Indigenous Peoples Kastom Day on Sunday 10th August 2014 at Motvales (Green Grass Area), Fanafo, Espiritu Santo island, Vanuatu.
The Indigenous Kastom Day is held each year in remembrance of kastom and the importance of it. Kastom in Vanuatu and Melanesia is commonly described as the normal, traditional way of life, beliefs, rituals and materials. A Nakamal (traditional meeting house) founded by Lottie Stevens in Fanafo is working to re-establish kastom where it is losing its hold, and to preserve the ideals of the forefathers of Fanafo. This Nakamal houses 15 Chiefs of the different Fanafo communities and the people working with them. The people of this community are referred to as the ‘Navota People’.
To celebrate the day in 2014, the Navota People organised the following activities:
Brief remembrance speech by Chief Yanki Steven
Planting and naming ceremony of banana trees for new-born children
Laying of Navota (Planem Navota)
Lifting kastom bans (Tekemaot tabu)
Kastom ceremonies/reconciliation (Mekem Natamata)
First shaving ceremonies for young men
Handing over of fire to the area/community who will host the next festival
Kastom Dancing & Singing
Feasting & Kava
This production was made possible through the Traditional Entertainment & Kastom Support (TEKS) Unit of Further Arts in Santo, under the TEKS Program, with support and agreement from the Fanafo community and its leaders.
The TEKS Team for this activity included: Delly Roy, Roselyn Tari, Ham Maurice Joel, Augustin Leasley, David Nalo and Sarah Doyle.

Beautiful Champagne Beach, Vanuatu on Espiritu Santo Island!
Champagne Beach, Vanuatu is one of the best beaches in the South Pacific Region. This beach is located on the island of Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu. It has crystal clear water and soft powdery white sand. One our day there the beach was nearly deserted (except for 3 other visitors). Cruise boats stop in at this beach, so if you are after some peace, try to avoid the cruise ship days. We loved our time at the beach and recommend you make the trip to see it.
