A tour of Denver's historic Paramount Theatre
Denver's Paramount Theatre was built by Temple Buell for Publix Theatres in 1930. The Paramount Theatre instantly surpassed the standards of the dozens of theatres that lined the streets of Denver at the time and is the only local theatre from that era that's maintained its original dignity and glamour - it's an excellent illustration of Art Deco design and craftsmanship from that age of theatres.
Denver's Paramount Theatre is also home to the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, one of the last three remaining organs of its kind to reside in its original environment. Throughout this recording you can hear the pipe organ and, at about 0:57 get a glimpse of it being played off in the distance on the stage.

A wonderful free tour at the Paramount Theatre.
The volunteers at this wonderful theatre offer a free tour once a month and its well worth your time if you are lucky enough to take the tour during your visit to Seattle.
After visiting this place, you will truly appreciate all the hard work and effort that it takes in running a theater as well as how the shows are set up.
I visited this place thanks to the Seattle YouTube Meetup group. I didn't even know about this tour and have lived in Seattle for a long time! I appreciate Zoe for setting it up.

Downtown Aurora, IL: Where it's @ :60 TV spot
Located 40 miles from Chicago, the city of Aurora is the second most populous in the state of Illinois. Our downtown is bisected by the Fox River and centers on Stolp Island, where settler Joseph Stolp constructed a woolen mill in 1835.
Today the island is the site of the Paramount Arts Center and the Hollywood Casino, as well as the Riverfront Playhouse, the Aurora Historical Society, and a number of restaurants, museums, retail shops and other businesses. It takes about 10 minutes to walk the entire downtown region from one side to the other.
For 100 years downtown Aurora was a powerhouse of manufacturing, driven in part by the downtown location of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad's roundhouse and locomotive shop. The railroad shops closed in 1974, and many of downtown's historic buildings have since been reclaimed and repurposed for retail, education, dining and entertainment or as part of a burgeoning arts movement.
Today, downtown Aurorans are enjoying a new sense of connectedness, enthusiasm -- and opportunity. We are bakers and salon owners, singers and dancers, fire-truck collectors and monstrous T-shirt creators. We invite you to join us. You're just in time.
If you're looking for arts, entertainment, dining, shopping and more. Downtown Aurora, it's where it's @!

Chicago Steel Wayne's World Parody
GENEVA, ILLINOIS — Game On! In a nod to the low-budget community access spoof that helped make Mike Myers and Dana Carvey comedy stars, the Chicago Steel created and will broadcast a parody of Wayne's World on Aurora Cable 10, the actual home of the fictional show that began on Saturday Night Live. Fictional co-hosts Wayne and Garth were big hockey fans and lived in Aurora, near where the Steel play their home games at the Fox Valley Ice Arena. The broadcast, on Friday, Jan. 27 at 10:30 p.m. CST, is part of a 25th anniversary celebration of Wayne's World. The team will also feature segments of their parody at a Wayne's World-themed game on Saturday, Jan. 28.
The Chicago Steel, the top team in the United States Hockey League (USHL) January power rankings, will party on! and celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wayne's World on Saturday, Jan. 28 during their game at the Fox Valley Ice Arena. When the movie Wayne's World entered the pop-culture lexicon it also brought the town of Aurora into the national spotlight.
Wayne and Garth are icons in the worlds of cable TV, music and hockey, explained Steel President Dan Lehv. Once we learned that there is an actual Cable 10, Aurora, Illinois, we couldn't not celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wayne's World.
The broadcast parody will include the top ten reasons the Steel will beat Bloomington, a dream sequence in which Wayne and Garth become Steel players, special guests like Steel mascot Rusty and commercial messages totally not paid for by sponsors.
The night of the game, fans are encouraged to come to the arena dressed as Wayne & Garth and the excellent evening's festivities will include:
● A pre-game performance by the School of Rock House Band
● An acapella performance of Bohemian Rhapsody by Acappellago
● Wayne's World Trivia
● Dreamweaver Smile Cam
● Clips from the Chicago Steel Hockey Wayne's World episode
The Chicago Steel will help launch the Party On! 25 Years of Wayne's World, a six-month-long celebration of the movie hosted by the Aurora Downtown, the City of Aurora, and the Aurora Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. On February 3, the event officially kicks off with a poster contest from 7 to 11 p.m. at If These Walls Could Talk located at 32 S Stolp Ave in Aurora. The celebration will feature about a dozen events from February 3 through July 4, 2017. Events include; a look-alike contest, an air guitar competition, movie screenings at Two Brothers' Brew N View and Paramount Theatre's Classic Movie Monday, a doughnut tasting, and more. For a complete listing of events, visit Aurora Downtown on Facebook or the events calendar at auroradowntown.org.
The Steel have been recognized for its creative and fun promotions including an arena-wide Secret Santa night in December, You're STEEL The One wedding vow renewal contest in January, and an upcoming Blades of Steel Night in February, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the iconic arcade hockey game.
On Saturday, January 28, 2017, the Chicago Steel face off against the Bloomington Thunder at 7:05 PM at the Fox Valley Ice Arena located at 1996 S Kirk Rd in Geneva. The Steel recently finished December with a 6-1-0-2 record to hold their spot at the top of the league standings, racing for their spot in the 2017 Clark Cup Playoffs. Tickets start at just $10 and parking is free. For tickets or more information, call 855-51-STEEL, stop by the Box Office at Fox Valley Ice Arena or visit ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com.
Ensemble Español + Cerqua Rivera | 130th Anniversary Season
Two beloved Chicago companies that explore identity and culture through dance and music share the Auditorium Theatre’s stage in this one-night-only performance. The world-renowned Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater, in residence at Northeastern Illinois University, is “pushing Spanish dance into the 21st century” (Chicago Tribune), fusing flamenco, folkloric, classical, and contemporary styles. The company performs new and classic works from its repertory, including a world premiere piece and Carlos Rodriguez’s flamenco ballet Mar de Fuego. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre “has never looked better” (See Chicago Dance), using dance, music, and visual art to contemplate the ideas and themes that shape our communities. Cerqua Rivera gives the Chicago premiere to company co-founder and artistic director Wilfredo Rivera’s American Catracho, a timely and thought-provoking work that draws upon the stories and experiences of immigrants to the United States.
