Ifrane is a town in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains. Voted the second cleanest city in the world in 2013.
It’s known for its alpine-style architecture and nearby ski slopes and forests. A stone statue of a lion near leafy Parc la Prairie is a well-known landmark. Just outside town, Ain Vittel is a spring with several waterfalls. To the west, Ifrane National Park, with its Atlas cedar forests, is home to rare Barbary macaques

As foreign tourists head to the medinas for a taste of the ‘real’ Morocco, Moroccan tourists find more favour with places such as Ifrane. Tidy, ordered and modern, it feels more like Switzerland relocated to the Middle Atlas than North Africa. Its clean air, scrubbed streets and leafy outlook make it popular with tour groups.

The French built Ifrane in the 1930s, deliberately trying to re-create an alpine-style resort. It has neat red-roofed houses, blooming flower beds and lake-studded parks. It is a popular summer day trip for picnickers; in the winter, the affluent flock here to ski, and the hoi polloi come for the pure fun of throwing snowballs.

إفران سويسرا المغربية ثاني أنظف مدن العالم و اجمل مدينة عربية افريقية
تقع مدينة إفران في المغرب على ارتفاع 5،460 قدم فوق مستوى سطح البحر الأبيض المتوسط، وهي مدينة لا تشبه أي مدينة أخرى في المغرب. فهذه المدينة المشيدة فوق تلة صغيرة، تشعرك وكأنك في جبال الألب السويسرية، نظراً لمنازلها ذات الاسطح الحمراء الأنيقة، وبساتين الزهور الملونة، والحدائق الطبيعية والبحيرات والثلوج التي تغطي الأشجار خلال فصل الشتاء. هذا المزيج من الجمال الطبيعي الرائع منح المدينة التي صممت على الطراز الأوروبي لقب سويسرا المغربية.

- في موسم الربيع تتزين مدينة إفران بغابات الأرز، والمراعي التي تنتعش بالحياة وفي الشتاء هناك تناقض حاد في المناخ بسبب المناخ الحار والجاف الذي يحيط بالمنطقة. ونظراً لسهولة الوصول إليها، تعتبر إفران قبلة الأثرياء الأمازيغ، من فاس ومكناس، ومراكش، الذين يتدفقون هنا لتجربة فصل شتاء أوروبي.

- بنيت إفران على يد الفرنسيين في الثلاثينات، خلال سنوات الاحتلال، وكان ما جذب الفرنسيون إلى هذه المدينة وما زال يجذب المغاربة الأثرياء إليها هو المناخ البارد خلال فصل الصيف، فبينما تكون مدينتي فاس ومكناس تصب عرقا من الحرارة يكون طقس إفران معتدلا ومنعشا.

- في فصل الشتاء، تنخفض درجات الحرارة في إفران إلى ما دون الصفر وتغطي الثلوج سفح الجبال المحيطة بها. وللعلم فإن أدنى درجة حرارة على الإطلاق في افريقيا سجلت في إفران وكانت ما دون الـ24 درجة مئوية.

- نظرا لوقوعها أعلى الجبل، كان الاحتلال الفرنسي يستخدم مدينة إفران كـمحطة التل حيث تقضي العائلات الاستعمارية أشهر الصيف، وتم تطوير مفهوم محطات التل لأول مرة من قبل البريطانيين في الهند، وأفضل مثال معروف منها هو شيملا في جبال الهيمالايا والتي كانت بمثابة العاصمة الصيفية. كما كانت مخصصة للعائلات الأوروبية الوافدة، وكانت غالبا ما تكون مصممة على الطراز الأوروبي لتذكير السكان الأجانب بأوطانهم البعيدة، لا سيما وأن الأشجار والنباتات المزهرة مستوردة من بلدهم الأم.

- بعد الاستقلال عن فرنسا، انتقل المغاربة إلى إفران وعملوا على توسيعها فبنوا مسجداً وسوقاً ومرافق أخرى للراحة والاستجمام. وفي عام 1995، تم افتتاح جامعة حكومية أميركية المنهج هي جامعة الأخوين المرموقة، كما تم هدم الشاليهات القديمة واستبدالها بمجمعات سكنية مغلقة، وتحجز الشركات معظم المجمعات حتى يتمكن موظفوها من قضاء إجازاتهم السنوية مع عائلاتهم.

- وتحولت إفران إلى وجهة سياحية محلية تتوافد إليها مئات العائلات الثرية صيفا وشتاءً، للاستمتاع بالمناظر الطبيعية الخلابة والأجواء الرائعة للمدينة فضلا عن التزلج على الثلج.
