Mount Shefford - Parc des Montagnards Hike (4k)
Enjoying the arrival of springtime as we hike the Montagnard Park on Mont Shefford, located on the south-shore of Montreal, some 90 kilometers (56 miles) from the downtown core.
The Parc des Montagnards summit on Mount Shefford has an elevation of 525 meters (1,722 feet) and its’ trail system is not yet very frequented as they have been established only relatively recently. In time, they will most probably become quite popular with hikers due to the close proximity to downtown Montreal.
The trail system is rated as “Intermediate” but, in my opinion, the trails are not very technical consequently casual hikers should not have too much difficulty reaching the summit.

Mount Bromont - Spring Hiking
Mount Bromont is the place to go skiing, water sliding, and mountain biking on the south shore of Montreal. Me, I hike my way up :) There was still quite a bit of snow, but the conditions were good enough to go up in shoes. On the way down, it was literally snow surfing when we weren't in the wooded areas :P To get there, you just need to park at the main parking lot for the ski station, and then it's up to you to decide on the trail!
What you need to know:
- Fees: none
- Start point/parking: 150 Champlain street, Bromont, QC J2L 1A2
- Parking: free
- The buildings are open for the summer starting in May.
-Summet: 553 m, multiple sides of the mountain are accessible (vertical drop: 361 m)
-Trail taken: We walked under the main chairlift
- Time: Approx. 40 - 45 min to go up depending on the trail conditions and your pace
- Sentiers: herbes, roches, neige.
