Blueberry Ash Melbourne Album Launch June 29, 2017 featuring Kellee Green - piano, Frank DiSario - bass, Hugh Harvey - drum set, Atienne Bakker - guitar, Andrew Butt - saxophone. Performing Blueberry Ash composed by Andrew Butt. Huge thanks to the Paris Cat for supporting this launch.
This programmatic work was composed in reaction to the suburban fauna of The Gap, a leafy suburb of Brisbane where my family and I reside. The Blueberry Ash is a strikingly beautiful tree with flowers and fruits that often appear on the plant together providing a stunning double display. The tree’s round oval blue berry drupaceous fruits are a stunning shade of bright blue, and resemble small olives. These fruits attract many birds including the Regent Bowerbird that collect them for their luminescent blue glow. The fruit of the tree is featured in the artwork for this album.

This unique venue has been at the forefront of Live Jazz in Melbourne for over 10 years now and has become a respected Live Jazz institution making it a vital part of Melbourne's Arts culture. The three-story warehouse built in 1895 hosts two live jazz performance rooms and a Gallery tapas bar.
