PARIS VS THE REST OF FRANCE | Major differences between the Parisians and the French
Today I sit down with Oliver Gee from The Earful Tower, who has just completed a 2-month tour of France on his little red scooter with his lovely new bride. We discuss his favourite sights and the main differences between the Parisians and, well, French people.

The popular image of the French in the eyes of foreigners is the Parisian: that elusive, slim, stylish, rather snobby creature that somehow never gets fat. But are the Parisians really representative of French people?
If you’ve spent much time in France, like myself or my guest Oliver Gee, you’ll agree that they’re definitely not.
In fact, Parisians are their own breed, utterly different from the provinciaux, the rather condescending term Parisians use to refer to non-Parisians.
But France functions on a fundamental divide between Paris and the rest of the country, which is often referred to as la Province (and not la Provence which refers to the South-East of France).
So, Paris = Paris, not Paris = Province (not included: not Paris or province and effing far away = overseas territories and departments aka Tahiti, New Caledonia, Guadeloupe, etc.).
I for one, having spent a lot of time in the South of France know that people are more relaxed, open, able to take their time...and they're not all skinny, either!
There are so many things we could have discussed in this video, from cost of living to way of life, but the resounding message is clear - Paris is NOT France! Paris n'est pas la France!
What differences have you noticed between Paris and the rest of France? Let us know down below!

11 FRENCH STEREOTYPES! Are they true? ????????????
What do we think about the French and are these French stereotypes true? Well, stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason... or at least perhaps they were at some time, but is there a such thing as French women being beautiful, or dating French men because they are suave? When visiting France you with encounter the typical French person and we wanted to see if these american stereotypes about French people were true.

Cute French girls I interviewed in Montmartre, Paris
I was in a café late one night in the Montmartre district of Paris with my camera and saw these girls nearby and decided to ask them for an interview for my video. This is the rough video, but it will be incorporated into my series documenting my 5 months in Europe. I hope you like despite it being nothing terribly special. I will add subtitles at a later date once added to the finished product. Sorry my French was a quite rusty at the time as this was just after I arrived in Paris and hadn't utilized it in quite some time. Please excuse all the uh I know it sounds terrible. It was the first time in a long time that I had utilized my french...I thoroughly apologize.
Les clichés parisiens : Parisiens, têtes de chien
Les Parisiens sont réputés râleurs, stressés, peu accueillants et n'aimant rien, comme le note un slogan connu : I love rien, I'm Parisien. Mais faut-il nécessairement croire ce cliché ? Nous avons interrogé quelques passants, histoire non pas de découvrir la vérité mais de saisir différentes nuances et comprendre qu'il existe bien d'autres façons d'appréhender le Parisien.
Eating Like a PARISIAN for 1 MONTH! The French Woman Diet Challenge
There's so much buzz around the French diet and people searching for advice on how to Eat like the French! We've all heard that French people don't get fat right? We land in Paris and wonder why we gain 15 pounds in a week while French women stay slim? And all of this while being told that French women don't diet? Ugh!
After living in France for a combined 14 years, we have seen our fair share of very slim French people and pretty average to overweight French people, too. But what we know for sure is that, in Paris, the VAST MAJORITY of French women and men are very slim, thin, slender, whatever you want to call it. So what is it about the French diet or, more particularly, the Parisian diet that is so effective? Well it's not ALL cigarettes and coffee, promise ;)
????????????
Join us on our EAT LIKE A PARISIAN DIET CHALLENGE where we test out 5 key principles based on the best practices we've observed when it comes to Parisian women and their approach to food. We want to see if, by eating like they do, we can potentially lose weight and feel healthier!

Think of this video series as a mini French diet documentary!
We are on a quest to experiment and understand frequently searched questions like:
- Why are French people so slim?
- Why don't French women get fat?
- Why are the French able to eat so much butter and cream and not get fat?
- How do French people stay slim without dieting or going to the gym?
- What is the typical French diet?
Full disclosure, we have not read the existing books on why French people don't get fat (we've made this up using our own intuition), but if you would like to do so, here are the links:

My First Impressions of Parisian Culture & Style
Ever wonder what Parisians are really like, how they dress, or if they’re actually as rude or arrogant as they’re said to be?
You might be surprised to learn that Parisians aren’t what you might expect from the way they dress, to how they interact with tourists, and even how they style their homes.
Today I’m sharing my first impressions of Parisian culture and style and all the little “isms” that jumped out at me.
You may or may not know that my husband and I recently returned from our 10-day anniversary trip to Paris and it was everything that I hoped for and more. But there were some things about Parisian culture and, of course, style that totally shocked me and that didn’t line up with a lot of the research I did leading up to the trip.
French and Parisian cliches do exist and I am well aware of them. However, that didn’t stop me from expecting certain things about Paris, like rude waitstaff and pickpockets, to be true. I wanted to be prepared after all.
Also as a stylist, I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to street style, and what I discovered surprised me.
Paris and Parisians are walking contradictions in the best way possible. If you want to know what Parisians are really like and also want to hear my very personal take on Parisian culture then you must watch this week’s episode.
Also, stay tuned because over the next few weeks I’ll be creating more videos about my purchases, what Mike and I did and spent our money on, street style videos, and how Paris has influenced me creatively in every way.
Next week you’ll be able to purchase my very own Mapster of all the best places to shop, eat, drink, play, stay, and relax. Be on the lookout for that! It includes nearly 70 of the most amazing off-the-beaten-path things to do while in Paris.
Before you go, leave me a comment letting me know what video you would like me to make next!
Bisous!
