Citalia Presents | Italian Islands Ischia & Capri
Though separated by just 20 miles, Ischia and Capri feel like they’re worlds apart. If you’re searching for the style and sophistication that Italy is famous for, a trip to Capri is the ideal destination to head to. At just under 6.5 square miles, Capri is a wonderful island to explore on foot, thanks to it’s large pedestrianised areas, here you’ll find award winning restaurants and designer shops home to the latest fashions fresh from Milan.
You’ll arrive by boat to the Marina Grande, home of Capri’s fishermen and the island’s largest beach, from there, Capri offers plenty of choices. Just a short ride in a taxi or bus will place you in Anacapri, here you can enjoy lunch in a wide selection of restaurants but if you want to build up an appetite first, take the chairlift to the summit of Monte Solaro for stunning, panoramic views of the Bays of Naples and Salerno and enjoy a leisurely stroll back down.
When mid-afternoon arrives you could take a bus back down to Capri to take in the views, browse the designer store lined avenues, shop for authentic Capri candles or stop for a cappuccino in the Piazzetta, however if you want to break away from the masses, a boat tour to the Grotta Azzurra or heading to the Gardens of Saint Augustus, only a short walk from the centre of Capri can provide a slice of serenity.
However, if you want to enjoy Capri without it’s bustling crowds it’s best to stay overnight and wait until the sun sets when day trippers return to the mainland. Evenings in Capri are often relaxed and intimate, with a wide range of bars and restaurants sure to provide a warm welcome and a stroll around the port or the sleepy backstreets allows you to experience this gem of the Tyrrhenian Sea like a local.
For a more authentic, rustic Italian experience, neighbouring Ischia is waiting to greet you. At over four times the size of Capri, Ischia offers plenty of opportunities to escape the crowds and unwind; from beaches and hot springs, to quiet fishing villages and mountain-top osterias.
One of the most iconic sights and tourist attractions of Ischia is the Castello Aragonese which has stood for nearly three centuries. Whether you view it from the shoreline at sunrise or brave the steps to the top and look back towards Ischia Ponte, this breathtaking landmark is a must see.
Alternatively, you could choose to take in panoramic vistas from Ischia’s highest mountain, Mount Epomeo which peaks at 788 meters above sea level or visit Sant’Angelo, a beautiful little fishing village with a quaint, unspoilt vibe and a choice of beaches just a short stroll from the harbour.
If you’re looking to unwind and relax whilst on Ischia, you have a choice of several thermal parks, gardens and spas where you can spend the day soaking away any aches or pains.
Whether you choose to visit Capri or Ischia individually or visit them both, you’re sure to be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. With both islands offering a wide selection of cafes and restaurant providing traditional, authentic Italian flavours and more contemporary choices alike, Ischia and Capri provide a treat for all the senses.

Sorrento, also known as the Gateway to the Amalfi Coast, sits high up on the mountainous Sorrentine peninsula and looks out over the Bay of Naples. Take a walk through its ancient streets, past boutiques, and limoncello stands and then down to the old fishing quarter, Marina Grande. From there you'll see amazing views out over the bay as you walk down the cliff face to the beach clubs below. There you will see Marina Piccola, Sorrento's main port where you can catch a ferry to the surrounding islands including Capri, Ischia and Procida. Finally you'll walk up a winding road and end up looking out over old ruins in the Valley of the Mills.

Naples, Italy Christmas Market Walking Tour 4K/60fps
Filmed on December 8th, 2018 at 2:40 pm, this walk begins at the Piazza del Gesu Nuovo and continues through all the Christmas markets lining the sides of Spaccanapoli, the Naples Splitter. December 8th is an Italian public holiday called the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It also marks the first day of the Christmas season when Italians go out to buy their trees and nativity scenes. This year, it fell on a Saturday and the streets are incredibly crowded. This walk is a little slow at times because of the crowds, but take the time to absorb the Italian life surrounding you as you stroll through the narrow streets filled with the locals enjoying their day out together.
????For an even more immersive experience, be sure to put on your headphones and listen in 3D audio.
