Belgian Radio and Television Philharmonic Orchestra
Fernand Terby, conductor
Jan Van der Roost (born Duffel, 1956) is a Belgian composer.
Van der Roost was educated at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven (1974-1979), and followed further studies at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent and the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp. Since 1984 Van der Roost is a professor of counterpoint and fugue at the Lemmensinstituut. He currently also is a guest professor at the Shobi Institute of Music, Tokyo and the Nagoya University of Arts.
Jan Van der Roost has composed over 90 works; most are for winds, like brass band, fanfare, and concert band, but some are for orchestra or choir. He has also dabbled in composing various pieces in the style of late 17th- to early 18th-century dance music, and is often cited by Tom Collier and Tom Slabaugh in their lectures as a prime example of music transformation.
The music on my channel is meant to introduce a large audience to music by unknown classical composers and unknown classical music by famous composers in the music period of about 1870 till about 1970.
The program presents works by relatively unknown composers and unknown music by well-known composers and has no commercial purposes.
Tens of thousands of people around the world learn about unknown music through our channel (educational task) and unite the people from the many countries who give their comments and reactions. If someone, for any reason, would deem that a video appearing in this channel violates the copyright, please inform us immediately before you submit a claim to YouTube, and it will be our care to remove immediately the video accordingly.

BALLADE VAN HET GLAZEN STRAATJE
Ik loop door het Glazen Straatje,
o en aai me, Nieke Naaime...
O en aai me, Nieke Naaime,
en ik stop voor uw vitrine!
Doe open, Nieke Naaime
en laat mij erin!
En ik sta voor uw vitrine...
O en aai me, Nieke Naaime,
O en aai me Nieke Naaime...
'k Heb een fluit tot aan mijn kin!
Doe open, Nieke Naaime
en laat mij erin!
Waarom doet ge nu niet open?,
Toch geen kindjes gaan kopen?
Waarom zijt ge weggelopen?
Leeg staat uw vitrine!
En ik kom er niet in,
ik moet kloppen op mijn kin!
O en 'k draai me, Nieke Naaime,
o en paai me, Nieke Naaime,
o en 'k draai me, Nieke Naaime,
en ik paai me... met uw vriendin!
Nikke Speed, die Dulle Griet,
ja zij laat mij erin!

SUMMARY
=======
The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (Greek: Οἰκουμενικόν Πατριαρχεῖον Κωνσταντινουπόλεως, Oikoumenikón Patriarkhíon Konstantinoupóleos, IPA: [ikumeniˈkon patriarˈçion konstandinuˈpoleos]; Latin: Patriarchatus Oecumenicus Constantinopolitanus; Turkish: Rum Ortodoks Patrikhanesi, Roman Orthodox Patriarchate) is one of the fourteen autocephalous churches (or jurisdictions) that together compose the Eastern Orthodox Church. It is headed by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, currently Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople.
Because of its historical location as the capital of the former Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire and its role as the Mother Church of most modern Orthodox churches, Constantinople holds a special place of honor within Orthodoxy and serves as the seat for the Ecumenical Patriarch, who enjoys the status of Primus inter pares (first among equals) among the world's Eastern Orthodox prelates and is regarded by some as the representative and spiritual leader of the world's 300 million Orthodox Christians. The Ecumenical Patriarchate promotes the expansion of the Christian faith and Orthodox doctrine, and the Ecumenical Patriarchs are involved in ecumenism and interfaith dialogue, charitable work, and the defense of Orthodox Christian traditions. Prominent issues in the Ecumenical Patriarchate's policy in the 21st century include the safety of the believers in the Middle East, reconciliation of the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic Churches, and the reopening of the Theological School of Halki which was closed down by the Turkish authorities in 1971.
