Entry from: Parnu, Estonia
Entry Title: Parnu
Entry:
Parnu is located on the main road between Tallinn and Riga on the south-west coast of Estonia. From the lonely planet description of Parnu it sounds very much like my local town Bournemouth in Dorset, England with its golden-sand beaches, the lush sprawling parks, a town popular with the youths and its nightclubs and is also a popular health resort for older visitors. So let test this theory out, which is better my local English beach resort of Bournemouth or the Estonian beach resort of Parnu. I arrived in Parnu on the same day as the August bank holiday in England, so I wasn't surprised to find the weather at this beach resort was wet and miserable. Just like those nostalgic bank holidays in England. (draw, 0-0) There isn't too many things to dos in Parnu, when its rains other than get wet strolling around the towns colourful houses, the grassy parks and their random statues. If you want to get out the rain you can visit the cinema or the local mud baths but unfortunately I never tried this. Still that a few more things that Bournemouth has to offer unless you want a ride on a hot air balloon. (1-0 Parnu) One of Parnu's mud baths can be found inside this beach side building The golden-sand beaches between the two resorts is very similar but the Bournemouth beach is larger. The beaches in Parnu are segregated into male, female and mixed beaches. Me and Peter found this out the pervy way after a naked lady walked out of the Baltic sea. Whoops!!! We're on the woman's beach. Unfortunately this middle aged lady wasn't attractive so (1-1). A deserted beach in Parnu When we arrived in Parnu, my traveling buddy was suffering from MacDonald's withdrawal symptoms but despite our best effects searching we couldn't find those famous yellow arches. So off we went to try the local cuisine. For lunch I had a sandwich and a slice of cake in the cafe around the corner from the tourist information for less than 60p. Might have gone for a proper meal but nothing is translated around here. In the evening we stop at another cafe 'Georg' where I picked a random meal from the Estonian menu and ended up with chicken, chips and salad for £2 (45 EEKs). Still you can't beat the English Fish & Chips however for not having a MacDonald's and the cheap prices its (2-1 Parnu). Final category, Accommodation. After parting company with Peter I headed off to the river to the nearby Konse campsite which was an ideal distance (1km) from the bus station. A cozy campsite (60 EEKs for the tent and 60 EEKs per person) however it was a tad lonely being the only tent in a site predominated by Finnish camper-vans but a quiet night in makes a nice change from the busy Tallinn dorms. Since Bournemouth doesn't have a campsite in the town (3-1 Parnu). A lonely tent at Konse campsite Summary Parnu is much more backpacker friendly than my home beach resort of Bournemouth. But 2 days maximum here is long enough, unless you are lucky enough to catch some good weather. P.S. Don't try using Parnu as a base to explore the nearby Soomaa National Parks as there are only 3 buses. The first is ridiculously early and the the two later ones will only leave you stranded at the National Park as there is no late bus back.

Pärnu - The summer capital of Estonia
The famous sandy Pärnu beach, which feels like a town within a town in summer, is just a 15-minute walk from the centre. Tens of thousands of sun-worshippers and swimmers visit the beach every day in summer. The beach is particularly well suited to families with children, as the water is shallow and warms up quickly in the sun, while the adjacent park offers protection from cool northern winds.

4K City Walks: Tallinn Estonia Pirita Beach to Kodriorg - Virtual Walk Walking Treadmill Video takes you from the best beach in Tallinn, Estonia back towards town and the Kodriorg Park area. Thousands of people enjoyed the warm shallow water on a warm, sunny, summer day. On this tour you will start at the beach in the late afternoon, walk a short distance along the Pirita River and then several miles back along the water and a main road past the war memorial and song festival grounds until you reach the Kodriorg Park.
Pirita is one of the eight administrative districts of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.
Pirita occupies a relatively big area, but compared to other districts of Tallinn its population of 16,636 (as of1 Jan 2012) is relatively small. It mostly consists of private houses, instead of the large blocks of flats typical of some other districts of Tallinn, such as Lasnamäe and Mustamäe. Large parts of the district consist of newly built, modern buildings and houses. Pirita beach is located in Pirita.
Pirita is one of the most prestigious and wealthiest districts of Tallinn, partly thanks to natural benefits such as its beach and yachting harbour. Pirita beach is the largest in Tallinn, and in the summer can attract up to 30,000 visitors a day.
Wikipedia:
Tallinn is the capital, primate and the most populous city of Estonia. Located in the northern part of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea, it has a population of 434,562. Administratively a part of Harju maakond (county), Tallinn is a major financial, industrial, cultural, educational and research centre of Estonia. Tallinn is located 80 kilometres (50 mi) south of Helsinki, Finland, 320 kilometres (200 mi) west of Saint Petersburg, Russia, and 380 kilometres (240 mi) east of Stockholm, Sweden. It has close historical ties with these three cities. From the 13th century until the first half of the 20th century Tallinn was known in most of the world by its historical German name Reval.
Tallinn, first mentioned in 1219, received city rights in 1248, but the earliest human settlements date back 5,000 years. The first recorded claim over the land was laid by Denmark in 1219, after a successful raid of Lyndanisse led by king Valdemar II, followed by a period of alternating Scandinavian and Teutonic rulers. Due to its strategic location, the city became a major trade hub, especially from the 14th to the 16th century, when it grew in importance as part of the Hanseatic League. Tallinn's Old Town is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Tallinn has the highest number of startups per person among European countries and is a birthplace of many international high technology companies, including Skype and Transferwise. The city is to house the headquarters of the European Union's IT agency. Providing to the global cybersecurity it is the home to the NATO Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence. Tallinn is ranked as a global city and has been listed among the top ten digital cities in the world. The city was a European Capital of Culture for 2011, along with Turku in Finland.

From early morning, we ran south and arrived in Perunu, about an hour and a half away from Tallinn. Pernu, known as the summer capital of Estonia, famous for its beaches, was the stronghold of the former Han Confederation. The reason I ran to this place is to see the kicking contest that looks like this swing. The young players started to play in turn. It looks like a Korean swing, but the height of these people is not unusual. I did not say it but I have to turn around. Kicking is a long swing made of iron bars. Fortunately, my feet were firmly fixed on the swing floor. Would not it be scary? I did not ride, but I sweat in my hand all the time I was watching. This is the first sport in Estonia. Estonians only Kicking is a sport that requires tremendous stamina because it needs to lift five times its own weight before returning. Right next to it was a women's game. The length of the swing was a bit short, but I played in the same conditions. It seems to be bright and successful because of neat success. What's your name? Carmen. This is Rebecca. Even when I was pregnant with Rebecca, I kept kissing. To date, the world record for kicks is 7.02m and the record set for 2012 is not yet broken. It looks like a swing, but it requires more skill and training than you think. The player who just finished the game has a bad face. This time, I did not succeed. The young player pledged his enthusiasm but gently. I also remember going on a swing at elementary school, so I decided to challenge Kicking once. It was a challenge, but I was nervous. The swing was a little heavier than I thought. I had a little start. I was not able to pass 90 degrees, not one wheel because I was getting weaker. My hand trembled, regardless of my will. I was sorry but decided to put the significance of participation.

See on esimene spordiala Eestis. Carmen. See on Rebecca.
