'Glorious British Bluebells' - a 'Rhapsody in Blue'!
From late April to early June British Bluebells burst into flower to form gorgeous carpets of blue in our woodlands, meadows, gardens and islands. This film takes you on a stroll along paths through some of the best Bluebell places in Britain with lovely bird song as you go. These spots include: Polesden Lacey, Tanners Hatch woods, Leith Hill and Abinger Roughs (all in North Surrey), Parrot's Drumble ancient woods near Stoke-on-Trent, Rode Hall gardens in Cheshire, Skomer Island, the Pembrokeshire coastline and my own garden. I recorded the 'woodland chorus' on Ranmore Common near Tanners Hatch, Surrey. The British Bluebell 'Hyacinthoides non-scripta' is native to the British Isles, which are home to more than half of the world's population.
