parshuram bhumi burondi (dapoli)- PARSHURAM is the sixth avatar of Vishnu in Hinduism. He is the son of Renuka and one of the saptarishis, Jamadagni. He lived during the last Treta and Dvapara Yugas and is one of the Chiranjivi (immortals) of Hinduism. Parashurama received his famous axe after undertaking terrible penance to please Shiva, who in turn taught him Kalaripayattu (the mother of all martial arts).
Parashurama is most known for ridding the world of kshatriyas twenty-one times over after the mighty king Kartavirya Arjuna killed his father. As per the Mahabharata, Parashurama single-handedly successfully conquered the entire world and killed thousands of crores of kshatriyas. Parashurama conducted hundreds of Ashvamedhas and gave away the entire earth he conquered as alms to sage Kashyapa.[1] He plays important roles in the Mahabharata and Ramayana, serving as mentor to Bhishma, Drona and Karna.[2]
Parashurama and Indrajit (Ravana's son) are believed to be the only humans who ever possessed the three ultimate weapons: the Brahmanda astra, Vaishnava astra and Pashupatastra. Parashurama was a disciple of Shiva and learned the scriptures and the arts of warfare from Shiva. He then acquired celestial weapons from Shiva and the other gods on Shiva's instructions. Shiva personally trained Parashurama for decades in the art of warfare. The Bhargavastra was his personal celestial weapon and vijaya was his personal bow which was gifted by Shiva. Parashurama also fought back the advancing seas to save the lands of Konkan and Kerala.

Parshuram Jayanthi 2017 at Pardhuram bhoomi, burondi, city- dapoli, dist- ratnagiri. kokan region
Lord Parshuram is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He was born on the third day of Shukla Paksha of Hindu month Vaisakh. The aim of his birth was to help Mother Earth get rid of sinful and destructive monarchs that neglected their duties. His birthday is known as ‘Parshuram Jayanti’ or ‘Parshu Rama Dwadashi’.
Parshuram was born to Renuka and Jamadagni, one of the Saptarishis. He is the epitome of devotion and love towards parents. The legend says that once his father after an argument with Renuka asked him to kill her. He obeyed his father’s order. Satisfied with his job, his father asked what he wanted as a gift. To which he replied, ‘Mother’. Hence, he got back his mother without hurting anyone.
Legend
According to Mahabharata Vana Parva, Kartavirya Arjuna, a legendary king of an ancient Haihayas Kingdom in Madhya Pradesh, became self-obsessed with his powers. In a fit of rage he started oppressing humans, yakshas and gods. Once he visited the hermitage of Jamadagni and was welcomed with all respect by Renuka. But the king demanded an ill return for her kindness. He later killed Jamadagni and their sacred cow Kama Dhenu. To take revenge, Parshuram killed the king and his thousand arms and further vowed to kill all the kshatriyas on earth. After knowing this all kshatriyas fled away. To cool him down, Kashyap Muni asked him to leave the world and since then Parshuram started residing on the mountain Mahendra.
Parshuram meets another Vishnu avatar
It may sound strange, but being the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu he met Shri Kalki, the tenth and also the final avatar of Lord Vishnu. According to Kalji Purana, Parsuhrama is the martial guru of Shri Kalki. Parshuram was also present at the betrothal ceremony of Sita and Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Akshaya Tritiya
‘Parshuram Jayanti’ is also celebrated as ‘Akshaya Tritiya’. The day marks the beginning of the Treta Yuga and is believed that good deeds done on the day are forever. The day is celebrated by fasting and organising bhajana, satsang and procession.

Hello friends ,
Welcome to our channel. Today we will be visiting parshuram mandir which is situated at around 20km from Chiplun taluka of Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra.
Parshuram Temple -
An ancient temple of Lord Parshuram is situated near the town of Chiplun on Mumbai-Goa National Highway. Parshuram is the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is resplendent with fabulous design, which incorporates both the Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture. The steps from the Ghat lead to the temple premises. The main temple is surrounded by stone walls. The main sanctum has three elaborate idols. It was built around 300 years ago. Since Parashuram created Konkan land, he is considered as the presiding deity of Konkan region.
A temple of Goddess Renuka Devi is seen behind Parashuram Temple. It is believed that Parashuram’s powerful five arrows created the primary water source at this place which is known as Banganga Lake. The temple was constructed with the help of Portuguese and the funds for its construction were provided by Janjirekar & Siddhi. Hence, European, Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture are noticed in the construction work.
