COPPER MOUNTAIN (Parys Mountain) Amlwch, Anglesey
Also known as the Copper Kingdom the Mountain was mined for Copper Ore in the early Bronze age, and is one of the only sites in Britain where evidence is found for the prehistoric beginnings of the British metal mining industry, and 18th century miners realized they where following in the footsteps of much earlier workers.
Parys Mountain dominated the worlds Copper market in the 1780's when the mine was the biggest in Europe.
Although the Mountain is extremely beautiful with its patchwork of stunning colours, the high level of soil contamination means little life survives there, but there are a number of examples of rare plants and bacteria, and this strange and wonderful landscape as been used in Science fiction film and TV. The area is open to the public and currently free of charge.

The mountain was mined for copper ore in the early Bronze age, as shown by sub-surface debris nearly 4,000 years old, revealed during excavations in 2002.
Since then, access has been regained to the sealed underground workings of the mine, revealing further evidence of this ancient mining.
Parys Mountain is one of the few sites in Britain where there is evidence for the prehistoric beginnings of the British metal mining industry.
The 18th century miners recognised that they were following in the footsteps of much earlier workers, an observation that was then linked to the discovery locally, of copper ingots bearing Roman inscriptions.

Anglesey Mining enters significant agreement for Parys Mountain optimisation study
Bill Hooley, chief executive of Anglesey Mining plc (LON:AYM), tells Proactive London's Andrew Scott they've entered into an agreement with QME Mining Technical Services under the terms of which QME will carry out an agreed programme of design, engineering and optimisation studies relating to the future development of the Parys Mountain copper and zinc project in Anglesey.
There will be no cost to Anglesey.
The primary objective is to determine the optimum production plan for Parys Mountain, utilising all available and potential means of accessing both the indicated resources and inferred resources, at various cut-off grades.
Exploring Copper Mines in North Wales U.K.
Copper mining is probably the oldest known mining activity in Wales with documented evidence of Bronze Age mining on the Great Orme near Llandudno and at Copa Hill in the valley of the River Ystwyth in Ceredigion. Further copper discoveries were exploited in Snowdonia just to the east of Beddgelert where the Sygun Copper Mine, within the Snowdonia National Park, gives an idea of the conditions faced by copper miners and is a popular tourist attraction. In the 18th century the massive deposits of copper together with a range of other metals was discovered and exploited at Parys Mountain on Anglesey.

My afternoon visit to the Wales Anglesey town of Amlwch was a nice quiet one. Not much to do in the town for shopping but the landscape was beautiful and amazing and took some really fantastic photos #TravellingEverywhere
