CAMPED on a remote ISLAND in LAMU, KENYA - Discover Lamu Part 2| 2017
The people have soul, they are friendly and honest and hardworking.
The architecture of the old buildings ignites an almost foreign romance.
And the calm ocean silences the abstract thoughts in your mind.
Life on a dhow for a day, camping on an island, seeing a school made of recycled bottles...the things you will find in Lamu will amaze, intrigue and invoke a sense of passion within you.

ADVENTURES IN NORTHERN KENYA, MARALAL
So going to Northern Kenya is very difficult, I found out. Maralal is on no ones list of vacation destinations. No safari operators will take you there. I finally found a driver in Nairobi to take me, but the 3 day journey was rough and halfway through he admitted he had never driven anyone here before and didn't know where he was. Not a good thing when - later - Somali bandits decided to chase our car and attempt to rob us - our driver outran them. So here are images from one of the more remote and inaccessible places on earth. Enjoy!
They Call Her Mama Overland - East Africa's First Female Truck Driver
Meet Becky: East Africa's first female truck driver. As a woman in a traditionally male profession, Becky is breaking gender stereotypes and inspiring the next generation of Kenyan and Tanzanian girls to follow their passion into their dream careers.
Taking Intrepid travellers on overland safari trips through Kenya and Tanzania, along with some of the female leaders working in East Africa, Becky gets to show people this region from a woman's perspective.
Watch Becky's story and let her tell you about her experience.

'My name is Becky and I’m a single mother of a son called Louis.
I longed to be a truck driver since I was a young girl.
This was because my dad was a truck driver.'
John Kinyua – Operations Manager East Africa: 'Becky is the first female truck driver in East Africa.'
Becky: 'I love my job – I drive my travellers or guests to national parks to see wildlife “Ok My Guests! In front of us we have white rhinos”
At first, men used to give me a hard time, I used to be very bullied. Every place that we go to, they will react'.
George Njau – Workshop Manager: 'First time I came here, I was so shocked to see a lady driving a truck. A lot of companies call me, they say: George – there’s a lady driving your vehicle. I said: Yeah. “how?” What do you mean how?. You saw her driving it. “Does she fix it?” I said yeah, she services the truck on the side of the road. She changes tyres. People think she’s supposed to be back in the village or in the house, cooking for her husband or cooking for her kids.'
Becky: 'They would even come and block me in the front. Like in Tanzania, they scream. Those ones would tell me: “Becky! You’re not supposed to be driving a truck, you’re a woman. Why should you! Can’t you go home and do something better? Maybe take care of your family. Anything to make me feel like I’m not supposed to do this.
There were some men who were like “I don’t think she should be in the truck that I’m in” That day, I think I cried half of the day, and I never had cried before. George is one of the person I will never forget. Because if it was not for his encouragement, then, I was to quit.'
George: 'Becky I been like “don’t lose hope. You’ll find challenges. People talk bad about you, but keep strong, and you’ll make it.”
Becky: 'Nakoudini Amini – Nakoudini Amini is believe in yourself.'
Workshop team: 'I was very new. So she helped me with some tips for the road. And I wished for her to carry me. Take me for a ride. And… it was awesome.'
'I think she drives it like she was born with it. She knows the truck inside out. She does what I can do. She’s one of us. She’s not different from anyone.'
Becky: 'I have been driving trucks for Intrepid for the last six years.'
George: 'Becky is very famous. The police know her, even the border. They see her, and they are like “Bring it”. She comes here in the office and everybody is chatting up with her. She has to run away: “I have work to do”. She’s part of our family, and we’re really proud of her.
My daughter, she loves Becky so much because she is driving trucks. She call her Aunty Becky. “One day I’d like to drive like Aunty Becky”. I say: “even you can drive if you want to, just have the courage, determination, and you’ll make it through”. People think she has triumphed. She has done what a lot of females do not accomplish.'
Becky: 'I just told her once: “Mum, do you know that I’m a truck driver?” “Oh my goodness!” she looks up and says: “I wish your dad can see you”.'
George: 'She has made a lot of companies think about employing female drivers now. So we’re looking forward to having a second lady driver, just all because of Becky. She encourages a lot of women now. A lot of women are looking to do driving.'
Becky: 'You say: “I’m a go-getter”. You’ll get it, you’ll get whatever you want.'
George: 'I’m proud to say that, we have the first female driver in East Africa, and that is Becky.'

Intrepid Travel has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1989. A company that began with two bearded backpackers, a typewriter and a kitchen table now leads 100,000 travellers across the globe each year.
And although we’re a bit larger these days – with 1,000 local staff based around the world and over 800 different trips across every continent (not to mention multiple kitchen tables) – our mission remains the same. We still get a kick out of responsible travel, small groups and very (very) big adventures.

DIANI BEACH mombasa kenya | HOTEL ROOM TOUR
I decided as part of my trip to Kenya to visit Mombasa where I stayed at the beautiful Neptune Palm Boutique Resort & Spa, a 4.5* Boutique hotel on a prime beachfront location at Diani beach, South Coast.
This All-inclusive Resort had one of the nicest food I have ever tried at an all-inclusive before. The staff were incredible and I would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Diani beach.
The rooms, were very spacious, modern and very well designed.
In this video I'm taking you on a room tour of one of the best hotels in Mombasa. I also share some highlights and drone shots of the beautiful Diani beach.

CONVERSATIONS IN KENYA: Moments I'll Never Forget
Kenya touched me so deeply. Here are just a couple of moments from a shoot I did last year making a little documentary with a startup that is helping villages with no electricity. There was so much more that happened on this trip but I think with just the stories of these two families you will see why I fell in love with the humility and spirit of the Kenyan people.
I began hosting, producing and filming travel shows on TV, then in 2016 I started this YouTube channel in the hope of sharing stories that are unscripted, spontaneous, filled with more heart and emotion than the travel shows or vlogs I saw that only showed the surface layer or tourist attractions. It has been a challenging year, and certainly as a YouTuber I still have so far to go, but these adventures have filled me with tremendous gratitude and a desire to keep documenting the beauty and kindness of humanity all over the world.
I film and edit alone, travelling the world as a one-girl production company with tripods, my drone and multiple cameras. Although I am Australian, I have lived in many different countries around the world, including Italy, Japan, the UK, Spain and Monaco. I have studied Italian, Spanish and Japanese and I'm usually based in Italy.

Stedmak Gardens Snake Park | Pre/Post Safari Activity | Nairobi, Kenya
I took a look at the snake park in Stedmak Gardens to see if it was worth a visit when you have time to spare in Nairobi before or after a Kenyan Safari
I think yes the snake park is well worth a visit education around snakes is very important both for overseas visitors and locals. The wildlife and bird park is not really necessary in a city that has its own National Park.
The snake park is a guided tour with a knowledgeable guide who can tell you all you want to know about snakes, it includes interaction with a python which can help people overcome fears.
So yes visit and learn about the snakes, skip the animals and birds if you are not into seeing captive animals and go for lunch at the floating restaurant!
Visitors to Zebra Plains Collection camps can enquire about a trip to the snake park at Stedmak Gardens when booking their safari, alternatively it is just a short taxi ride from the two Nairobi airports or city accommodation.
To book with Zebra Plains Collection you can contact reservations@zebraplainsmara.com or call +254776965290 / +254790789122

Rob The Ranger is a proudly South African YouTuber
The purpose of the Rob The Ranger Wildlife Videos YouTube channel is to show what it is like to experience seeing wild animals on an African safari. Nature Documentaries are often highly edited to tell a story, wildlife safaris are not, and the idea here is to show the wildlife sightings the way they were seen. Safari tours in Africa are generally suitable for all ages and this channel can be considered an educational channel about incredible nature, some scenes in the nature videos may be more graphic than people are used to but this is the reality of nature and is what you would see if you were present on such a safari in person. Safaris in Kenya, South Africa, or any other African country are an unrivalled experience for anyone with a passion for nature, wildlife photography, and travel. Hopefully the animal videos on this channel can provide a glimpse into what the nature experience is like and encourage more people to take a wildlife safari one day.
