Mochi flowers in Sendai, Japan
Mochi, the sticky, chewy result of pounding rice together into a single mass, is regularly enjoyed year-round in Japan but particularly on the New Year.
It's delicious to eat, but there are other ways to enjoy it too. Little colored dumplings of mochi please the eyes as flowers decorating branches!

As the year is coming to an end, Charly and Victor decided to head on up to Tohoku to meet up with our good friend Chris from the Abroad in Japan channel. First, we hit up a unique spot for lunch called Cafe Pamplemousse to try out some pancakes, a sandwich, and enjoy the quacky atmosphere with other guests.
After lunch, we headed on out to Gyutan Yaki Senmonten Tsukasa to try some of Sendai's renowned beef tongue. Made with Australian Beef, coals from Iwate prefecture, and high-grade rice from Miyagi prefecture itself, this beef tongue dish is definitely a treat!
Wrapping up the night, we enjoyed a few drinks before resting at the 9 Hours capsule hotel in Sendai, then headed out to Matsushima. Matsushima is one of the 3 most Scenic places in Japan, also known as the Nihon Sankei along with Miyajima and Ama no Hashidate. This brings back a lot of memories from Victor's first trip to Japan almost 10 years ago.

Best Japanese Strawberry Shortcake Restaurant (Fujiya Cake Ginza in Japan)
This cake chain restaurant is friendly and tasty. We use Fujiya most when we are in Japan. I would say this short cake is the best in Japan.
They have this cake store not only in Ginza Tokyo but also a lot of places in Japan.

Beautiful MATSUSHIMA Bay and the Mausoleum Caves 日本三景・松島
If you're travelling to Japan, make sure to stop by Matsushima Bay, one of Three Views of Japan. The name means Pine Tree Island and it's a collection of 260+ small islands covered in pine trees, which you can tour by boat. The associated Buddhist temple Zuigan-ji is also right across the street and is considered one of Japan's national treasures. It has an incredible series of caves built into the cliff side as well as a beautiful garden and quite a few incredible trees, so make sure to add it to your trip!

BEST 7 Harajuku Sweets - Tokyo Street Food Snacks | Harajuku, Tokyo [4K]
Trying out some of the best sweets you can find in Harajuku, Tokyo!
▶︎ Subscribe for weekly food videos (
▶︎ Follow us on Facebook ( Twitter ( and Instagram ( for daily content!
Harajuku, the number one spot in Tokyo for shopping, fashion, and…fun snacks! Our friends over at Tokyo Cheapo sent us recommendations for the best treats to try out.
You can find the full details of that list in their awesome article here:
Here are the details of the shops we went to:
1) SWEET XO | Time: 0:56
This shop is mostly popular for their frozen popcorn, very colorful and delicious, but we came for the huge cotton candy they have. Although it was very difficult to eat (because of the humidity and the rain the cotton candy kept melting), the layers of flavors were really delicious, not too sweet, and overall a very exciting treat. Maybe avoid eating it in summer.
Shop information:
Address: Tokyo, Shibuya-ku, Jingu-mae, 1-16-61 Harajuku 77 Bldg 1F
Google Map:
Opening Hours: 11:00AM - 8:00PM
2) MARION CREPES | Time: 2:13
Harajuku is THE spot to try out Japanese crepes. What makes them different from normal French crepes? They usually fill it with a ton of toppings, fruits, ice-cream, and roll it in a cone. It’s very sweet but extremely delicious. Marion Crepes has been around since 1976 and is considered to be the number one place to try them out.
Shop Information:
Address: 〒150-0001 Tokyo, shibuya-ku, Jingumae, 1−6−15
Google Map:
Opening Hours: 10:30AM - 8:00PM
3) ZAKU ZAKU | Time: 3:28
A very popular treat, the Croquant Chou from Zaku Zaku, a crispy snack filled with delicious creamy custard made with products from Hokkaido. They make it on the spot, so it’s very fresh!
Shop Information:
Address: 〒150-0001 Tokyo, Shibuya-ku, Jingu-mae, 1-7-1 CUTE CUBE HARAJUKU 1F
Google Map:
Opening Hours: 10:00AM - 9:00PM (Monday to Saturday)
10:00AM - 8:00PM (Sunday)
4) CALBEE SHOP | Time: 4:45
Calbee is very popular for their potato-based snacks (hence the potato-shaped mascot), and one of their best-seller is Jagariko, little crispy french fries with different flavors. Here at their shop you can try Jagariko made on the spot. They have to different flavors: salad and cheese flavor. It’s very hot but very crunchy, tasty and delicious.
Shop Information:
Address: 1 Chome-16-8 Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo 150-0001
Google Map:
Opening Hours: 9:30AM - 8:30PM
5) COISOF | Time: 6:23
A newly opened shop close to Takeshita Street! Their speciality: sesame seed flavored soft creams. The choice is easy: White or Black sesame. The soft creams are topped with Oiri, a traditional Japanese sweet, it’s very light, but crunchy and adds a touch of sweetness.
Shop Information:
Address: 〒150-0001 Tokyo, Shibuya, Jingumae, 1 Chome, 8-24 1F
Google Map:
Opening Hours: 10:00AM - 8:00PM
6) TOTTI CANDY | Time: 6:46
Another very popular place in Takeshita Street, Totti Candy actually has a ticket system to get in, because of how crowded it can get. There you can try out very delicious giant Cotton Candy, modern sweets and Cake Pops: Cute Chocolate balls. They are shaped as kawaii animals and they come in 6 different varieties. Of course, we chose the cutest ones.
Shop Information:
Address: 〒150-0001 Tokyo, Shibuya, Jingumae, 1 Chome−16−5
Google Map:
Opening Hours: 9:00AM - 8:00PM
7) GARRETT’S PREMIUM POPCORN | Time: 8:02
This shop is known for its huge line that can last up to 2 hours! We were lucky and thankfully nobody was lining on that day. We got the Cheese flavored popcorn which were out of this world!
Shop Information:
Address: Japan, Tokyo, 1-13-18 Jingumae Shibuyaku

Opening Hours: 10:00AM - 9:00PM
