Mr. Sam Hines, auctioneer of the house, shares with us some details about these watches and in particular concerning the Patek Philippe Ref. 2499, the real star of this auction. This Perpetual Calendar timepiece bears a very original feature as it was retailed by Asprey at the time and is in mint condition. 100 Patek Philippe For 1 Gavel At Christie’s Auction On Sunday
Christie's watch department succeeded in gathering 100 ancient Patek Philippe. All are going to be sold on Sunday and the battles among collectors should be as epic as memorable. Indeed, many unique and rare models are on sale such as a split second chronograph bought by William E. Boeing in 1939 in Cartier, New York. The hour hand shows indeed 3 red marks that evoke a ancien propeler, in addition to the fact that it is, of course, a magnificent piece! The Ref.1518 is the first perpetual calendar with chronograph recorded at the moment. It belonged to King Farouk. The Ref.2499 is estimated between 1,6 and 2,6 millions swiss francs. So no need to say that this sale will be a milestone in the history of watches auctions. John Reardon, Senior Vice President and Internation Head of Christie's Watch Department tells us more about the most significant pieces.
