The Pauhana surf contest has been around for a while now. The first-ever Pauhana surf contest took place in November 2011, when we were young kids and learning how to surf. Now this was their 8th surf contest and we are more than happy for being able to capture the essential moments of this family-friendly event.

Pauhana Surf School Pauhana surf school is an interactive center for people of all ages to come and experience the delight of surfing. Here we offer a friendly local service done by the local surfers in the area. We express the fun and appreciation shown for this encounter of man and nature.
There are many boards to choose from for renting, and any added accessories to complete the package. Paddle boards are also available and water booties are provided. All sizes and shapes and colors.
The local surf center is owned by one of the oldest local surfers in the area. Leonardo Gomez, better know as Chepe'' has been throughout the changes brought to the area since he remembers surfing as a young grom. Now is when he has settled down and opened his love for surf for other to experience.

Overall it was a great facility. Clean with friendly staff and great meals!
The general daily schedule was:
7am - leave for the beach to surf
9:30am - return for breakfast
10:30am - return to beach for session #2
1pm - return to camp and do as you please for the rest of the day
Ideal for those that are working remotely or working from home. Internet can be slow at times, but pretty reliable for basic emails and needs.
A Family & Surf Culture Pauhana 8th Annual Surf Competition, Encuentro Beach
Encuentro Beach, Cabarete is recognized as the surf capital in the caribbean. Today Pauhana Surf School is hosting their 8th annual surf competition for all ages. This competition helps support the youth in this sport.
Not only is Encuentro Beach, Cabarete a wonderful beach it is also a great family environment and friendly culture. Certainly was one of the reasons why we chose the Cabarete area to live full-time. In this video you will see some of the junior competitors and the behind the scenes, vendors, trapeze area and scenery.

I went to the dominican november 2012 to travel along the coast to trekk perform and capture some of the hot spots and i discovered this amazing hostel 6 minutes away from the beach in cabarete and here it is one of my productions to share with the world. I highly recommend this place to stay at when you come to visit the island. I stayed 2 weeks and i wanted to stay more. Enjoy the video, happy travels.
