Miki's bear encounter story:
Early July, 2018
My friend Mary Ann and I were walking at Minnekada Park (in Port Coquitlam, one of the municipalities within Metro Vancouver) and decided to head to one of the dyke trails nearby. Some bikers we met on the trail mentioned that they had seen a bear along there. We went down anyways but made sure that we made lots of noise. We noted there were lots of wild berries growing along the trail. When we walked about ½ mile down the trail and looked back, we noticed something black on the trail behind us, maybe about 200 feet away. As we watched, we saw that it was a bear. He was slowly heading in our direction, eating berries along the way. We scooted on a side trail and hid behind bushes to see if he would pass us by. We waited for a bit, then peeked out, and realized he was only about 20 feet away! He saw us too. I put my backpack over my head (to make myself look larger) and both of us spoke loudly to him to try to scare him away. Then we retreated back to the side trail. We waited for a few minutes, then slowly peaked out. We then noticed that he had left the trail through some bushes and was now below us on the river bank, chomping on plants and just minding his own business. This is where I took the short video, knowing we were a safe distance away! As we walked back on another trail towards the main road into the park, a man in a parked car advised us that he had seen a mother bear with two cubs! We took another road back into the park and warned other park users about the bears. It was quite the adventure!

QUACK! quack! Paul Lake, Kamloops B.C.
Made a trip out to Paul Lake Provincial Park in B.C. to feed the ducks. Beautiful place, excellent for camping and picnics. The ducks & geese gave me a chance to try out the video capture on my digital camera, only 4.1 Megapixels, so quality is not so good.
