Paveletsky Rail Terminal 2012
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paveletskiy Rail Terminal
Paveletsky Terminal (Павелецкий вокзал) is one of Moscow's nine railroad terminals. Originally called Saratov Railway Station, it was named after a village of Pavelets, when the railroad leading south-east of Moscow reached that point in 1899. The ornate building of the station, completed in 1900 and extensively reconstructed in the 1980s, remains one of the biggest Moscow railway terminals. In 1924, it was the place where Muscovites came to meet the body of deceased Lenin. The Lenin Funeral Train is still a permanent exhibit there. The Aeroexpress train links Paveletsky station with Domodedovo Airport .
The old building of the terminal was built in 1900, its architect was A. Krasovskiy. In 1899 the Ryazano-Uralskaya railway reached Moscow, so a new railway terminal was needed. From the Paveletskiy Railway Terminal suburban electric trains departs towards Kashira, Ozherelye, Uzunovo. Express electric trains departs to Ozherelye and Domodedovo Airport. The major directions of long-distant trains are Almaty, Astrakhan, Baku, Balakovo, Balashov, Donetsk, Lipetsk, Luhansk, Saratov, Tambov, Volgograd, Voronezh, Yelets.

Domodedovo Airport Aeroexpress to Paveletskaya Train Station
If you fly to Moscow chances are that you will arrive at either Domodedovo or Sheremetyevo Airports. Moscow has great public transport and the Domodedovo Airport Aeroexpress will wizz you directly to Paveletskaya Train Station at the center of the Russian capital.
The journey from Domodedovo Airport to Paveletskaya Station takes about 45 minutes through some real rough Moscow neighbourhoods where you will see the typical Soviet style residential tower blocks, many power stations and huge roads.
I would say taking the Domodedovo Aeroexpress is your easiest and best option to Moscow City Center from Domodedovo Airport as it is clean, cheap and runs on time. In contrast, the roads are always busy with traffic, slow and difficult to get around if you don't read cyrillic.

Kursky railway terminal (Russian: Ку́рский вокза́л, Kursky vokzal), also known as Moscow Kurskaya railway station (Russian: Москва́-Ку́рская, Moskva-Kurskaya), is one of the nine railway terminals in Moscow. It was built in 1896. There are currently plans to completely rebuild or refurbish the station.
Kursky station, unlike most Moscow terminals, operates two almost opposite railroad directions from Moscow: one toward Kursk, Russia, after which the station is named, that stretches on into Ukraine, and another toward Nizhniy Novgorod, which is less used by long-distance trains, mostly for the high-speed service to Nizhniy.
Kursky is connected to the Lengradskiy Line from the other side, enabling long-distance trains from St. Petersburg to other cities to pass through Russia's capital. Because of its three directions, its adjacency to the city center, and its connection to three major metro lines, Kursky is one of Moscow's busiest railway stations.

OLD SCHOOL !!! Moscow Kazanskiy train station terminus..The biggest station in Europe.
This is one of the main railway terminals in MOSCOW.. I walked in there last night and it took my breath away.. its just unbelievably HUGE, like an old Opera House from the outside and full of characters from Soviet central casting... it really feels OLD SCHOOL RUSSIA... It made my trip...
I THINK it is this station : From Kazanskiy Rail Terminal which is considered to be the largest in Europe, trains depart to many southern and eastern directions: Kazan, Adler, Samara, Ufa, Alma-Aty, Barnaul, Bishkek, Vladikavkaz, Grozny, Dushanbe, Ekaterinburg, Kislovodsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Novorossiysk, Rostov, Ryazan, Tashkent, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, and many other cities of Russian Povolzhye, Ural, Siberia, and the Middle East. This station was constructed in 1864 across the square from Leningradsky Terminal.
