Paya Indah Wetlands is a Malaysia's premier eco-tourism park covering approximately 3100 hectares located in Kuala Langat District in the State of Selangor near Dengkil, about 50km from Kuala Lumpur. Paya Indah Wetlands offers exciting attractions, thrilling activities and lots of adventures for people of all ages. There is also nature camps designed primarily for school children that mostly held during school holidays. We can see hippopotamuses soaking in mud pools, the world's largest and fiercest crocodiles lazing under the sun and also many types of water birds. Paya Indah Wetlands has approximately 213 species of birds.

Paya Indah Wetlands
Paya Indah Wetlands (PIW) is a recreational park in Dengkil (nearby Putrajaya) that revolves around the conservation efforts of the area's peat swamp forests and freshwater lakes' ecosystems. There are 14 lakes in total and some lead to the Kuala Langat river. It was originally the brainchild idea of Malaysia's former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir (source from park staff), as a barrier of protection against (if any) fires or floods.
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PLACE: In the past the whole place used to be an abandoned tin ore mining area until 1997, when a private company took over to convert the place to be a park which was subsequently opened in year 2000. However, just 3 years into operation, the park closed in 2003 and remained so until 2005 when Jabatan PERHILITAN (Department of Wildlife and National Parks) took over the reigns of the park's management. After some major refurbishment works, the park was reopened to the public in Oct 2008 and is such till today. :)
There are 3 zones - (i) Recreation zone, (ii) Education zone, and (iii) Conservation and research zone. Out of the 3, only Zone 1 is open to the general public. Zones 2 and 3 requires anyone who wishes to enter to write a letter/email to the managing Penguasa (Superintendent) of the park beforehand (piw@wildlife.gov.my) and it takes less than a week for approval. Zone 2 is mostly for school educational excursion trips, whereas Zone 3 is usually for birdwatchers and jungle trekkers. As such, if you plan to go, planning a few days in advance is essential. To enter Zone 3 you will need a guide (i.e. a staff) at the cost of RM80/day for a maximum of 10 people in a group, and a short taklimat (briefing) will be given.

Located in Dengkil, Paya Indah Wetlands comprises many abandoned mining lakes and swampy areas. This land of greenery, occupying 450 hectares, has undergone re-development works costing tens of millions of ringgit. It is also the habitat of more than 213 bird species, 142 aquatic animal species and 220 types of medicinal herbs and plants.

They completed the 46kms ride with boboy finishing 9th in his category and dada is in the top 100..
