Logging in the Peachland Creek Community Watershed Reserve, Timelapse 1984 - 2018
In 1992 Logging began in earnest in the District of Peachland's Community Watershed Reserve, with a recent forest tenure license given to Riverside Forest Products (taken over in 2004 by Tolko Industries). Some of the Peachland watershed has a small forest tenure by BC Timber Sales (in the upper Greata sub-basin). Another section of the Peachland Communty watershed is under a Community Forest Tenure (granted in 2009) by the Westbank First Nation.
The timelapse, 1984 - 2018, by Google Earth imagery, shows the progression of logging.
In 2017, Tolko, BC Timber Sales and the Westbank FIrst Nation began a Watershed Assessment process, which was closed to the public. When the public asked for a copy in late 2018, Tolko and BC Timber Sales refused to release it.
The government protected the community watershed in the 1920s with a Land Act tenure, called a Watershed Reserve. Government re-protected the watershed again in 1974 with another Watershed Reserve tenure. The protection tenure was hidden from the public, and when the Okanagan / Shuswap Land and Resource Management Plan (LRMP) process was underway (1996 - 2000), government hid this tenure from the public working tables.

Beautiful Boondocking Spot ~ Peachland, BC ~ Taking Out A Tree W/ Atlas ~ S2E15
This boondocking spot in our RV was one of my favorite stops on the way down. G was a little scared the night before but she is getting used to it! We drive through some amazing countryside into one of our favorite towns, Peachland. On arriving I misjudge a tree and have a little run in with it and G thinks its hilarious

Peachland Museum Train Exhibit | Dan Albas MP
I'm here on my Summer Listening Tour at the Peachland Museum speaking with Eugene! He is a volunteer working on the museum's train exhibit.
Peachland Waterfront and Beach
Narrow long beach, limited parking, road and homes line the Peachland Waterfront. Old Peachland is quaint with nicely landscaped homes on large lots, most of the new development has crept up the mountain side with those ugly developments that clear the land of all trees and vegetation.

▷ The unique 8-sided Peachland Baptist Church was constructed, mainly by volunteers, in 1910 and served as a place of worship until 1964. Over the years it has functioned as a temporary Municipal Hall, Parks and Recreation Office, Fire Brigade Hall and Public Library.
The picture on the left shows it under construction. Note the peach tree growing in the foreground. Since 1980 the building has housed the Peachland Museum and since 1981, the church building was declared an official British Columbia Heritage site.
Hundreds of historical artifacts, photographs, newspapers and documents are on display. Together, they offer a glimpse into the rich history of Peachland and its people.
The personal histories of pioneer Peachland families are documented in three volumes: Peachland Memories 1 & 2 and the 2009 Centennial Picture Book. The books are available for purchase at the Museum.
