Algonquin Park - Evening Light At Peck Lake - Episode 3
#Algonquin #camping #hiking #trails
This is our third video in our Algonquin Park 2018 series.
Peck Lake Trail is one of many hiking trails at Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. It is a short 2.3-kilometre looped trail that takes hikers around the shores of a beautiful inland lake. The trail is rugged with some steeper areas and stairs. This is one of our favourite short hikes to take a picnic or snacks on.
On this gorgeous evening, the light was spectacular! I saw a loon, several frogs and heard a variety of songbirds singing their evening songs.

The Mizzy Lake Trail at Algonquin Provincial Park
A video I made of my visit to the Mizzy Lake Trail in Algonquin Provincial Park in Southern Ontario.
Even though it was late April there was still a lot of snow on the ground which made for slippery and wet trails.
I didn't get a chance to hike the whole trail because at one point I kept falling up to my knees and waist in the snow and I only had shorts on! Snowshoes would have surprisingly been a good idea.
At the end of the video you'll be able to see two of the moose I was able to catch a glimpse of during my drive home.
Keep up with me online!

Bat Lake Hiking Trail, Algonquin Park - Winter Hiking
Bat Lake Trail is located at kilometre 30.0 on Highway 60 in Algonquin Provincial Park.
Bat Lake is a 5.6 km loop trail that introduces you to basic Algonquin Park ecology while visiting a beautiful hemlock stand, a fine lookout, and acidic Bat Lake.
On the day we visited in early February, there was under 30 cm of snow on the ground. The previous day was warm and rainy, so there was a thin crust of ice on the snow and fantastic cascades of ice clung to the cliffs on either side of the steep ravine near the west end of the trail.

Cache Lake, Algonquin Provincial Park
Cache Lake, Algonquin Provincial Park solo three day canoe trip.
On September 26th, the same date as my 2014 solo canoe trip, I departed home at 5:00 am, arriving at Canoe Lake shortly after 7:00 in anticipation of an 8:00 am opening. As is custom, my trip up to the park included a stop at Tim Hortons where I got a tea and breakfast sandwich in Orillia followed by another stop for coffee and a 10 pack of Timbits in Huntsville.
Weather conditions were pleasant with a light south wind. Because I needed to cover a lot of distance today, I left my fishing rod packed away until I hit Cradle Lake and therefore did not take advantage of the good smallmouth bass fishing found on this lake.

We enjoyed hiking the Two Rivers Trail. It's a fairly easy 2.3 km loop that includes a short ascent to a pine-clad cliff with fall views. Elowyn is 22 months and loved singing and hiking on this trip to Algonquin.
