Men on wire: Power workers walk in the clouds to repair lines
From the north of Zhejiang Province in eastern China to Fuzhou in the southeastern Fujian Province, there is a large uninhabited area of endless mountains, crisscrossed by ultra-high-voltage (UHV) transmission lines that can weigh more than 270 kilograms. After first entering operation in 2015, the North Zhejiang-Fuzhou UHV AC project underwent its first series of safety checks earlier this month. The power workers need to walk on wires no thicker than bottle caps with only a thin wire on either side to hold on to, with a deep valley directly below their feet. The breathtaking moment that saw them walk in the clouds was captured by CCTV, let’s take a look.

BASIN STREET BLUES by Clyde McCoy Vogue Picture Disc R707 1946
Production of these fairly dazzling picture records commenced in May, 1946 and ended in April 1947. This example was the first one issued and is considered to be the most popular, though not uncommon as this series goes. I think both sides are really cool for the art and the music. Enjoy!
48 Ways of Looking at Bach: Peter de Jager - The Well Tempered Clavier, Book 2 Part 3
Peter de Jager has made a name for himself as a performer of unusual, virtuosic and contemporary repertoire. But like all musicians, he reserves a special place in his soul for Bach. This rumination on Bach will take us on an undefined path through rich musical terrain.
In 1722, Johann Sebastian Bach set out to explore a new way of thinking about sound. His explorations led to an astonishing achievement – two books of 24 Preludes and Fugues, in all major and minor keys. In 2017 we’ve invited some of Australia’s most accomplished, creative and adventurous keyboard players to take us on a journey through ‘the 48’, bringing their own insights and reflections to this music, as well as matching it with music that they feel illuminate and enhance these masterworks. This is a unique project across 6 concerts throughout 2017, celebrating the genius of JS Bach.
'An Orange Grove In California' - Combo Mahalo Live in Austin 05/15/2014
Celebrating 10 years together, Combo Mahalo is Austin's only 'Aha Mele' (Hawaiian swing) band. Not just skilled, but after a brief chat, they're clearly steeped in the history of the genre, particularly with regard to the early 20th century native Hawaiians who pioneered that now-unmistakable Hawaiian steel guitar sound.

Cry Baby Blues -1921
This record at least 88 years old
I gotta hand it to the recording engineers that worked before the days of electrical recording because of this record. This record sounds as if it was never played and it gives me a true and rare glimpse at what sound could truly be captured. When I first recorded this record I though because of the sound quality that it was recorded in late 1925. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the recording date was 1921! I find it hard not to repost old post as with each record I literally learn something new. Hopefully my financial situation will allow me to hunt for some more recorded gems. But for now I have my little modest collection. So I keep trudging and if you have any comment or suggestions or questions don not hesitate to hit my up with an e mail.
