Lift Up Your Head - Glenn Shorrock (written by Jason Vorherr) - UNICEF Typhoon Haiyan Appeal
Lift Up Your Head was written, recorded and donated to the UNICEF Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund by my very talented friend, Jason Vorherr. Our friend, Glenn Shorrock, lead singer of all classic Little River Band hits as well as any number of famous collaborations before and after, wished also to help how he could. Glenn has lent his velvet voice to Jason's song.
Yours truly produced the video with the assistance of Soozie and Lawrence Pinders' camera skills. Pony Music of Melbourne Australia donated their time and talents also to the cause; Flourish Public Relations to the forthcoming press release and Paul Hanna to the website.
As all concerned have donated their time and energies to this cause, we ask you to visit if you are able and to give what you can.
Many thanks to: Jason, Glenn, Damien, Angela, Paul, Soozie, Lawrence, Flourish PR, Kate at UNICEF and all the guys who played on the track (no, it wasn't me on guitar, it was my talented friend Geoff Wells), who helped us out on this project. We all hope we can make a positive difference.
If you like the track, please visit and give a little. There you will be able to download it.
Cheers,
Brett Kingman

Kayaking Lysterfield Lake 07.12. 2013, perfect spring/summer conditions in Melbourne.
Kayaking Lysterfield Lake on a perfect late spring/early summer day in Melbourne. The wind was light and the water was calm. Ambient temperature was a nice 24'C. The recent heavy rainfalls meant that most of the fallen trees were well covered below the water line and the lake has now risen and covered where land used to be in some areas surrounding the lake. You can see evidence of this where some land based trees are partially submerged in the water. Awesome stuff! The video was filmed using a mobile phone camera, so it might not be up to some of the high standards with better equipment!
Dub Koala 0.1.6 HD
Dub Koala is essentially a four bar groove live mixed on digital console.
Most of its parts are coming from Akai S6000 sampler, some are Logic Pro instruments. All tracks are then bounced to the timeline and send thru adat cables from Motu 2408mk3 to Yamaha 01v96vcm. I' am using Yamaha's internal effects. Stereo mixdown is fed thru S/PDIF cable back to 2408mk3 and recorded to my project. Multiband compression and adaptive limiting is applied to the stereo track and rendered as 44.1/16bit AIFF and send to Final Cut Pro and Compressor.

Rail Explorers: You'll Never believe this Rail Car
7/17/2015 this afternoon I got over to the Saranac Lake Union Depot, part of the Northern division of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, and got to see the Rail Explorers in action.
The only thing of it's kind in the United States, the Rail Explorers rent these pedal powered rail bikes. A really neat concept and a great use of the out of service track on the line.
Trailblazers - Train Whistle Nightmare
1957-59 Australian Hillbilly
The Trailblazers, a group of artists and musicians with a strong country and western leaning, rehearsed for their weekly 3XY radio show at the Erskine Hall Carlton, and later at the Albion Hall Brunswick. Amongst the members of the Trailblazers were Alan Hawking, Jack Johnson, Tom Heaney, Stan Green, George Xanthos, Charlie Boland, Russell Hawking, George Mack, Elsie Darling and Jack Quinn. The Trailblazers performed over three hundred weekly radio shows for radio 3XY. These shows were broadcast throughout Australia and on WSM Nashville, USA. After the Trailblazers had recorded their weekly radio show it was common for a small group of them including Jack Johnson, Norma Johnson, Stan Green, the Hawking Brothers, Beverley Dick and Jack Quinn to adjourn to Nando's Spaghetti Bar, Carlton where they would entertain their friends and Nando's customers without accepting payment. However, they were provided free food and drinks.
Probably the largest audience to witness a Trailblazers performance was at an early Moomba Festival in Melbourne when more than 10,000 people enjoyed their unique style of country and western music. With the Trailblazers Beverley also performed at the Healesville Shire Hall and the Collingwood Town Hall. An unusual aspect of the Trailblazers' musical style was their adamant refusal to have drums in the group. The percussive drum sound was achieved by threading paper between the guitar strings over the hole in the guitar. The strumming chords would then have a choofing sound.
During 1956 the Trailblazers recorded an album for Planet Records (Planet PP015). The cover art of this record shows the Trailblazers performing on the stage of the State Theatre Flinders Street Melbourne. This was a posed publicity shot. In addition to performing as part of the group on this album, Beverley sang Love Song of the Waterfall as a solo. This track features Beverley's distinctive yodel.
