Places to see in ( Hunstanton - UK )
Hunstanton is a seaside town in Norfolk, England, Hunstanton faces west across The Wash, making it one of the few places on the East Coast where the sun can be seen setting over the sea. Hunstanton is a 19th-century resort town, initially known as New Hunstanton to distinguish it from the adjacent old village from which it took its name. The new town soon exceeded the village in scale and population.
The original settlement of Hunstanton, now known as Old Hunstanton, probably gained its name from the River Hun, which runs to the coast just to the east of Old Hunstanton. It has also been opined that the name Hunstanton originated from the word Honeystone, a reference to the local red carr stone. The river begins in the grounds of Old Hunstanton Park which surrounds the old moated hall, the ancestral home of the Le Strange family. Old Hunstanton village is of prehistoric origin and lies near to the head of Peddars Way.
Overlooking a sloping green and the sea, and for several years standing alone, it earned the nickname Le Strange's Folly. In 1850 Le Strange, an amateur architect and painter, appointed a land agent to survey the site and prepare a plan, while he himself drew and painted a map and a perspective of the scheme, showing shops, a station and a church. He consulted William Butterfield on the design of the development plan. Their shared passion was for the Old English style of architecture for domestic buildings. This owed much to medieval precedent and to the earnestness of the Victorian Gothic Revival. Hunstanton is the exemplar of a model 19th-century estate seaside town. Most of the fabric and character of that original development survives.
Hunstanton is a traditional family resort. Summer crowds tend to be smaller now than in the 1980s, although the popularity of the town as a tourist destination for day-trippers and holidaymakers has endured, weathering the decline of the British seaside holiday. During the 1990s, businesses in villages south of Hunstanton (Dersingham, Ingoldisthorpe and Snettisham) complained of a loss in trade after being bypassed by the A149, which carries heavy Hunstanton-bound traffic.
Hunstanton is home to a fairground, aquarium and seal sanctuary, leisure pool, theatre, large caravan parks with amenities (Searle's Holiday Park opened in 1936), a number of amusement arcades and a long promenade. Hunstanton has regular markets on Wednesdays and Sundays selling fresh fish and fresh fruit and vegetables. The markets attract greater numbers in the summer months through to the autumn. he countryside surrounding Hunstanton is hillier than most of Norfolk and is sparsely populated, the only nearby large settlement being King's Lynn, 12 miles (19 km) to the south.

Norfolk Coast Path. Part 1. Hike and Wild Camp along the North Norfolk Coast.
In this video (part one in a series) I will be walking along the Norfolk Coastal Footpath, a long distance trail following the beautiful, rich coastline of North Norfolk.
Carrying everything I need and wild camping along the way, I start in the seaside town of Hunstanton, walking through salt marshes, reed beds, dunes, coastal villages and nature reserves to the village of Burnham Deepdale. I stop along the way to show you some of the features and sites of interest along this stunning and unique coastline, and give you a taste of North Norfolk. Weary after a long days walk, I set up camp in the salt marshes, have a well earned dinner and a couple of East Anglian ales before settling down for the night in my bivvy bag cocoon.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Places to see in ( Blakeney - UK )
Places to see in ( Blakeney - UK )
Blakeney is a coastal village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. Blakeney lies within the Norfolk Coast AONB and the North Norfolk Heritage Coast. The North Norfolk Coastal Path travels along its quayside. The village is 21.1 miles (34.0 km) north west of Norwich, 4.6 miles (7.4 km) NNW of the larger settlement of Holt, 11.5 miles (18.5 km) west of Cromer and 112 miles (180 km) NNE of London.
The civil parish has an area of 9.9 km² and in the 2001 census had a population of 789 in 402 households. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of North Norfolk. Blakeney was a commercial seaport until the early 20th century. Now the harbour is silted up, and only small boats can make their way out past Blakeney Point to the sea. The harbour and surrounding marshes are owned by the National Trust and is a nature reserve where seals can be seen basking on the sand.
Just inland from the harbour is Mariners Hill. This vantage point is believed to be man-made, probably as a lookout point for the harbour. Adjacent to the hill, at the foot of the village's High Street, is the old Guildhall with a 14th-century undercroft. Higher up the village, the Church of St Nicholas has two towers: the main tower is more than 100 ft (30 m) high and a well-known landmark for miles around; the smaller tower was built as a beacon to guide boats into Blakeney Harbour.
Blakeney Haven was a deeper inlet on the north coast of Norfolk into which the River Glaven flowed. Sheltered behind Blakeney Point, it was a major shipping area in the Middle Ages, with relatively important North Norfolk ports at Wiveton, Cley next the Sea and Blakeney itself. Cley and Wiveton silted up in the 17th century, but Blakeney prospered, especially after the channel to the Haven was deepened in 1817. Packet ships ran from that port to Hull and London from 1840. This trade declined as ships became too large for the harbour, and it is now silted up with access only for small boats.
From the 12th century Blakeney had a reputation for acts of piracy: between 1328 and 1350 it is recorded that men of Blakeney boarded two vessels sailing from Flanders and sailed them back to Blakeney haven, where they were stripped of their cargoes. Many a foreign merchant ship which sought shelter in the haven found its cargo stolen. Such was the lawlessness of the residents that the village refused to supply a ship for the battle against the Spanish Armada.
Blakeney Mill in Friary Park is a Grade II listed building and is chiefly of flint with brick dressings (mostly its upper parts) across its three storeys. It appears on a map of 1769 in this exact location, following earlier mention from the Domesday Book of mills in the village. In the 19th century a rail branch line from Holt to a new station at Blakeney was planned, but the scheme was never completed. It would have connected the town to the wider Norfolk rail network.
Blakeney is a popular tourist resort during the summer months. The village has two large hotels, one in a historic building, and one with a modern main part but with also with a late 17th-century and 18th-century barn annexe, The Blakeney Hotel as well as having the alternative at the end of the Quay Road of the 15-acre (61,000 m2) caravan site. Blakeney offers a large range of activities including crabbing, fishing, canoeing and birdwatching. In the area of marshland around Blakeney Point, owned by the National Trust, up to a hundred species of birds can be found throughout the year. Several pubs in the area serve food and real ale.
( Blakeney - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Blakeney . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Blakeney - UK

East West Bike Ride, Ness Point to Hunstanton
Cycling from sunrise over the sea at Ness Point, Lowestoft right across Norfolk (and a bit of Suffolk) to sunset over the sea in Hunstanton, raising funds for the RNLI Wells Shannon Lifeboat Appeal.
Wells lifeboat station at Wells-next-the-Sea on the North Norfolk coast is due to get a new Shannon class all-weather lifeboat in 2016 and is running an appeal to raise £250,000 towards the cost of the new boat.
As a volunteer crew member, I came up with a solo sponsored 80 mile bike ride in aid of the appeal, starting at dawn watching the sun coming up over the sea in Lowestoft and ending watching it set also over the sea in Hunstanton, one of the few bits of the east coast that faces west.
Along the way, my ride took me through St Olaves, Loddon, Norwich riverside (passing Pull's Ferry, the cathedral, the Cow tower and medieval Bishops Bridge) then along the Marriott's Way former railway path as far as the Themelthorpe curve. From here I cycled past Bintry Mill, Great Ryburgh and Hempton to East Rudham then Great Bircham, Fring and Sedgeford before finally rolling into Hunstanton a bit tired and sunburnt but with some time to recover a little before the sun went down.
More info (not to mention the chance to donate to the appeal) at and at
Norfolk Coast Path - Thornham to Hunstanton
Just a few clips from a day out. I travelled to the east coast of England to walk a stretch of the Norfolk Coast Path from the wilderness of Thornham to the populated Hunstanton for lunch, and back. About a 15 mile round trip. There's a nature reserve at Thornham with a lake, which makes great bird watching.

Sheringham Beacon Hill Walk, Peddars Way Walk, Norfolk Coast Path, Norfolk Walks, England, UK
Sheringham Beacon Hill Walk was about 7.5 miles in distance. The terrain of the route was a combination of a beach, coastal path, woodland track and trails, field paths and short road sections. The walking was easy on level ground or gentle to moderate slopes. Route finding was easy with obvious paths, good waymarking and good landmarks. Note that the beach section between East Runton and Sheringham may be impassable at high tide so you may need to walk along the cliffs on the Norfolk Coast Path. You are advised to consult tide tables. There were 3 stiles to negotiate.
