4К | Koktebel walking tour| Crimea
Koktebel (Ukrainian: Коктебéль, Russian: Коктебéль, Crimean Tatar: Köktöbel), formerly known as Planerskoye, is an urban-type settlement and one of the most popular resort townlets in South-Eastern Crimea. Koktebel is situated on the shore of the Black Sea about halfway between Feodosia and Sudak and is subordinated to the Feodosia Municipality. Population: 2,807 (2014 Census).
It is best known for its literary associations. The Russian poet Maximilian Voloshin made it his residence, where he entertained many distinguished guests, including Marina Tsvetayeva, Osip Mandelshtam, and Andrey Bely (who died there). They all wrote remarkable poems in Koktebel. Another prominent literary resident of Koktebel was Ilya Ehrenburg who lived there circa 1919 while escaping from anti-Semitic riots in Kiev.
The name Köktöbel is of Turkic origin: in Crimean Tatar it means “Land of the blue hills” (from kök, “sky blue”, and töbe, “hill” or “mountain”, composed with the collective suffix -el). Its Soviet name of Planerskoye comes from the Russian planer, or glider: the hills above the shoreline were the site of many early experiments in manned heavier-than-air flight by Russian pioneer aviators. The local airfield is still known as Planerskoye.
The 2003 film of the same name by Boris Khlebnikov and Aleksei Popogrebsky follows the journey of a father and son as they try to reach Koktebel from Moscow.
Koktebel was known as a vacation spot for writers in the Soviet Union. It is also famous for its brandy, its hang-gliding and its naturist beach, largest in the former USSR.
There is a mixture of public beaches and private beaches with a paved walkway all along the bay. This walkway is lined with small restaurants, cafes, kiosks, and small market areas selling arts and crafts, dried fish, or slices of home-baked cake. In the evening, the beachfront comes alive with many small discos offering music, beer and shashlik. The cuisine is predominantly Tatar but Russian and Ukrainian food is also on offer. There are boat excursions, horse-riding and trips to a nearby monastery or to the cognac factory. Accommodation is either in a small hotel or in one of the hundreds of guesthouses run by local residents. It seems as though the whole population has turned into innkeepers in the summer.
Koktebel is nowadays also well known for its jazz festival that usually takes place in the middle of September. It lures the attention of jazz-lovers from the whole ex-USSR. Cast from the festival in past years included De-Phazz, Nino Katamadze, Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham and many other famous jazz and world music performers. But the festival's 2014 edition will be held in Zatoka and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi (both in Odessa Oblast).

Rotary Uzhgorod park acquires a new face
Together we will change the world. For several years, the Uzhgorod Rotarians clean and care the city park which now called the name Rotary Park. A lot has already been done in it: herbage and garbage was removed, consistently held hygienic recreation spaces, lighting and an entertainment complex for small children were installed. Through the paved walkway in the park, installed trash cans and benches with logos of Rotary Club, participated in the project. There are still many ideas that members of Rotary Club Uzhgorod-Skala together with other clubs plan to implement. In the future, there will be paths for skate and skateboards and a ground for cyclists, install a basketball backboard, fountain and many other interesting and necessary things for young people. Works of improvement continue, anyone can join and help breathe new life into the park!

Kamianets Podilskyi - the must visit medieval castle in Ukraine |travel vlog | 卡缅涅茨-波多利斯基 |
Kamianets Podilskyi (Каменец-Подольский) - the most beautiful medieval castle in Ukraine.
If you are interested in old fortresses, old castles and you want to see how looks castle inside or fortress inside, you can see this vlog video. Video blog about ancient city in Ukraine which calls Kamianets Podolsky is very awesome town on West Ukraine, with a great historical heritage. Ukrainian nature, Ukrainian land looks very awesome here. Ancient fighting, bridges, canyons.
Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle (Ukrainian: Кам'янець-Подільська фортеця; Polish: twierdza w Kamieńcu Podolskim; Russian: Каменец-Подольская крепость; Turkish: Kamaniçe Kalesi) is a former Ruthenian-Lithuanian castle and a later three-part Polish fortress located in the historic city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine, in the historic region of Podolia in the western part of the country. Its name is attributed to the root word kamin', from the Slavic word for stone.
No epithet is able to describe fully the splendor of this ancient city, which no other city can match, even in Europe. Founded on an island, which was created by the Smotrych River bend, Kamianets-Podilskyi has a history, which has formed its diverse appearance. An incredible quantity of amazing 11th – 19th centuries' monuments and landmarks are concentrated on the territory of the Old City. They are a big reason why this city is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
For over a thousand years, Kamianets-Podilskyi, located at the crossing of European trade routes and influenced by different cultures, had been a frontier castle, for which the East and the West fought constantly. The first fortification buildings appeared here in times of Kyivan Rus. However, most consider the city to have been founded in 1362 by the Lithuanian Koryatowicz princes. Legend has it that while out hunting, the brothers chased a beautiful deer, which led them to an unusual island surrounded by a deep canyon. In that place, a location saved by nature from outer threats, the Lithuanian princes decided to build a fortress.
The city grew so rapidly, that it soon turned into a large trade and craft center and began to compete with Kyiv and Lviv. But Kamianets-Podilskyi experienced real prosperity in the 15th century, when it passed to Poland. At that time, three ethnic communities lived here - Poles, Armenians and Ukrainians - each of which decorated its neighborhoods with distinct architecture. During the Polish period, Kamianets-Podilskyi became known for its impenetrability. According to legend, a Turkish sultan, who had tried in vain to enter the city, asked the local citizens: Who built this fort? The God himself did! - was the answer. So let God conquer it!” - the sultan conceded.
Ironically, in 1672 the fortress surrendered to the Turks, who left a big imprint on the city during their 27 years of governance. Later, in 1699, Kamianets-Podilskyi returned to the guardianship of Poland, and a century later it passed to the Russian Empire.
Despite the twists in history, Kamianets-Podilskyi has managed to preserve its priceless buildings almost unchanged. The main sight is still the Ancient Fortress, considered to be one of the best samples of fortification buildings in Eastern Europe. Massive walls and bastions continue to inspire with their might and majesty. Among the fort towers, the ones that stand out are the Black Tower, which contains a 40-meter well, and the Karmeliukova Tower, which is the tallest tower and was named in the 19th century after its prisoner - Ukrainian national hero Ustym Karmeliuk.
Hope you enjoy this vlog style video i filmed with in Kamianets Podilskyi, Ukraine! I had such an amazing trip, more summer videos to come...

Local residents attempted to return to normality after weeks of fighting between militants of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR/DNR) and the Ukrainian army, in Grabskoye, near Ilovaysk, Tuesday.
DPR fighters had pushed pro-Kiev troops out of the village the previous day. Burnt APCs and tanks littered the area around the village; also buildings have been damaged and residents reported that their livestock has been killed. After hiding in their basements, civilians went out to local fields to find food, risking their lives in doing so since ordnance may remain unexploded.
Recent advances by anti-Kiev militia come as part of a major counter-offensive against Ukrainian forces that started last week.
