Gull's Eye guide to Peel Marina Sponsored by Haven Knox-Johnston
The boat insurance people who share your passion…
Overlooked by an ancient red sandstone castle, picturesque Peel is the Isle of Man's busiest port and is situated on the unspoilt west coast. Originally Peel was the focus for a huge herring fleet and this little town remains home to a significant fish processing industry as well as the site of the island's only cathedral.
Discover all about the marina from locals, including berth-holders, and see what this charming marina has to offer from essential facilities to what's available on shore and the things to see and do.
This Gull's Eye clip gives you a great boat owner's view of the approaches and details of moorings... everything you need to know for your visit!

The Avengers (Peel the Reel)
I loved the way this track from the one-off album Power Themes '90 perfectly captures the playful spirit of the Emma Peel years. It's long been a dream to locate all the dialogue clips used in the mix - something that's only been possible thanks to BBC Four broadcasting The Avengers. Luckily, they all come from the 1967 colour series, which makes for a brighter compilation.
I'm uploading this by way of a protest that for the last four years the British public have been unable to buy one their most famous television series. Since the original DVD release was deleted in 2003, there's been no way to get hold of the Avengers on PAL region 2 discs other than by travelling to France and buying a version with French credits. As Steed says, No, no no!.

Draken arrives at Peel
The full-sized replica of a Viking Lonship, The Draken, (The Dragon Harald Fairhair), arrived at Peel today on a fine sunny afternoon. She came across Peel Bay under diesel power, but broke out the oars to row around the end of the breakwater and across the inner bay, but had to ship the oars to enter the marina again under diesel power to dock at the berth prepared for her at the West Quay.
If you would like to see more photos of the ship and its arrival at Peel, check out my Google + Story :
The following information comes from Manx.net:
A spokesman for Manx National Heritage said: 'During the crossing on the North Sea the large mast snapped and went overboard, luckily none of the crew were hurt. Captain Björn Ahlander made the decision to continue the trip without a sail and with a slightly altered route through the Caledonian Canal. - See more at:
