Ogden: Junction City of the West Documentary
Just weeks after the joining of the transcontinental railroad, the transfer point between the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads was moved to Ogden, Utah and no traveling passenger would cross the country by rail without stopping there.
This spectacular evolution in transportation ushered in a period of remarkable growth, and the cultural diversity and commerce that endlessly streamed through Ogden’s Union Station and legendary 25th street forever changed its place in history.

Welcome to Ogden
Once a lawless frontier town, Ogden maintains a fiercely independent spirit, but now with a more focused mountain-to-metro personality. Ogden is named one of the Best Places for Business and Careers and Fastest Growing City in America by Forbes Magazine. It is also the corporate headquarters of national brands including Browning Firearms and Swift Trucking and is home to Hill Air Force Base, one of the largest employers in Utah.
Ogden offers the amenities of a city with backyard access to one-of-a-kind outdoor recreation. Whether it is rock climbing or water sports; hiking or biking; camping or skiing; Ogden is a high adventure community. Beyond its recreation and booming economy, Ogden's charming Historic 25th Street offers eclectic shopping, dining, and nightlife. From performances at Peery's Egyptian Theater, Utah's only movie palace, to the museums at Union Station, there's a bevy of cultural attractions for everyone.
Ranked as one of the 50 Best Colleges for Adult Education, Weber State University is an educational, cultural, and entertainment hub for Northern Utah. With multiple locations and online learning, Weber State offers 225 certificate and degree programs and 13 graduate degrees.
Historic neighborhoods offer charming and affordable housing options. The Jefferson Avenue Historic district boasts distinct Victorian style homes while the Eccles Avenue Historic District features Prairie style architecture. Newer neighborhoods offer options for every buyer from condos and town homes to single family retreats in traditional and contemporary styles.

Union Station - Ogden, UT
We took a morning trip up north to Ogden, Utah. While we were there, our family visited Union Station–a once a very busy train station built in 1889. It was the junction for the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads. Today it offers a glance into the past as you visit the four different museums: John M. Browning Firearms Museum, Browning-Kimball Classic Car Museum, Utah State Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, and Utah State Railroad Museum. Our little group had fun exploring and learning more about an important part to our state history.

Amidst one of the most well to do cities in America is a declining corridor that needs revitalization and reinvestment. The otherwise booming town of Naperville has been cited with these awards over the years:
#1 Wealth center of the Midwest
#11 Wealth center in the Nation
#13 Highest income in the Nation
#2 Best Places to Live in America
#1 Best Places to Retire
Lets put that wealth into bringing back the city that we love.
City Council elections take place April 7, 2015.
Vote Steve Peterson if you believe in the Ogden corridor.
