Exploring Peggy’s Cove
Peggy’s Cove is such a pretty fishing village
and it was started by just six families
who were granted 800 acres by the government
today it is still a working fishing village
and this is how people have supported their families
for the past 200 years
the time to come to Peggy’s Cove is definitely
at sunrise
there’s nobody here
so we’re getting ready to head out on our
Peggy’s Cove boat tour here
a great way to see that lighthouse from a different perspective
let’s go
so sitting in front of me is my very first east coast lobster
and you know what?
I’m here on the east coast of Nova Scotia
actually gonna dine on one
so I’m really looking forward to it
and what you do then is just grab the tail
either one side or the other
get your fingers here
get your fingers in this little area right here
and just basically peel it open
peel and push at the same time
these things are not very light
so you gotta really crack them open
so we got some instruction on how to eat a lobster
so I’m gonna see how good I am
first I gotta take off the limbs
and then I think I gotta get into the tail
and at least get that off
and we’ll see how far we get so
here we go
and there you go
that’s how you get into a maritime lobster

Peggy’s Cove is located along what is known as The South Shore of Nova Scotia. This picturesque fishing village is nestled among broad, smooth granite ledges and is graced with an old white and red lighthouse. The cove also features colorful buildings, well- worn flat bottom boats and an assortment of fishing paraphernalia. This is a very popular tourist attraction so you won’t be alone as you make your way across the granite ledges , marvel at the pristine ocean and breathe the fresh air. Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada - Town and Lighthouse
Peggys Cove (2009 population: approx. 46), also known as Peggy's Cove from 1961 to 1976, is a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality.
Peggys Cove is 43 kilometres southwest of downtown Halifax and comprises one of the numerous small fishing communities located around the perimeter of the Chebucto Peninsula. The community is named after the cove of the same name, a name also shared with Peggys Point, immediately to the east of the cove. The village marks the eastern point of St. Margaret's Bay.

Peggy's Cove from the water
Our visit to Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, from the water.
Peggys Cove
Nova Scotia is home to over 160 historic lighthouses and these majestic beacons can be found throughout the province. Some of our lighthouses are world famous! Peggy's Point Lighthouse is one of Nova Scotia’s most well-known lighthouses and may be the most photographed in Canada. Located in the quaint fishing village of Peggy’s Cove along the South Shore, Peggy’s Point Lighthouse was built in 1915.
Spend the day watching the waves and exploring around the rocks. Visitors are reminded to exercise caution at all times, as the surging sea is never far away.
Peggy’s Cove is famed for its picturesque and typically East-Coast profile, with houses perched along a narrow inlet and on wave-washed boulders facing the Atlantic. Although this unique environment has been designated a preservation area, it is still an active fishing community.
