This is a walk through video of whitewater kayaking in Costa Rica on the Pejibaye River Upper section at lower water levels by lead river guide Arnaldo from Amazing Vacations. This river is just outside of Amazing Vacations Costa Rica's headquarters in Turrialba Costa Rica.
This river is great for families who want to raft and for beginner - intermediate kayaker and River SUP.
The lower section of this river was used to host the Pan American games slalom river championships back in 2017. That section is excellent for beginners and newer boaters. The upper section of the river shown in this walk through is a great warm up for kayakers who are just getting back on the water and need a few warm up runs before moving into more serious whitewater.

Costa Rica River Walkthrough: Pejibaye River - Upper / Las Juntas
This is the upper section of the Pejibaye River that is rarely paddled by any commercial trip provider. This is a whitewater kayak river walk-through video by lead guide Aranldo Cespedes Pelon who is also an kayak instructor at the world famous Otter Bar kayak School in Northern California. Arnaldo is also a SUP Pro sponsored by HALA paddleboards and will be competing as a kayaker at the North Fork Payette Games in 2019.
The intent of these walk-through videos is to give people an idea of what the rivers are like in Costa Rica. One unique feature of this river is the jungle canopy that often covers nearly the entire river. It is one of the most beautiful sections of rivers and is actually the river that Arnaldo grew up paddling as a kid.
You can paddle this river and the lower sections of the Pejibaye as part of Amazing Vacations Costa Rica's week long river trips that are specifically designed for whitewater kayakers, River SUP, Duckies and whitewater rafters.
