Peki'in or Buqei'a , is a Druze town with local council status in Israel's Northern District. It is located eight kilometres east of Ma'alot-Tarshiha in the Upper Galilee. In 2017 it had a population of 5,767.According to tradition, the Jewish community of Peki'in has maintained a presence there since the Second Temple period. The only interruption in their presence was during the 1936–1939 Arab riots. Most Jews in Peki'in did not return to the village after the violence, which they called the Hadera diaspora. It is believed that the Zinatis are the only family who returned, and this family has dwindled to one member.
