Pemaquid Point Lighthouse: Introduction
Hello again, and welcome back to Bristol Parks and Recreation's YouTube channel. The long awaited lighthouse episode is finally here, and it came out great. We're very happy to officially introduce the internet to our wonderful lighthouse.
Here on the coast of Maine, everybody is familiar with the calming flash of a lighthouse. No matter which part of the coast you are from, nothing says home quite like a stone tower with a light on top. The Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is one of Maine's most noble lighthouses.
Featured on the 2003 U.S. quarter for the state of Maine, our lighthouse is a true piece of living history. We keep the grounds around the lighthouse safe and clean so that all of you may enjoy our rich heritage.
Come in and stop by to see our lighthouse this spring. You'll definitely be glad you did. Though the lighthouse tower itself isn't much of a spectacle compared to other places you can visit, the surroundings are what make the park so alluring to everybody. The beautiful rocks the lighthouse is built upon bring in artists, photographers, geologists, students, and everything in between.
The Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park opens in the early weeks of May, and doesn't close until the end of October. While we have the park open, there is a small $3 fee to gain entrance. That fee supports the park, and allows you into all of our buildings. The lighthouse tower is free to climb (provided the volunteer is present), the fishermen's museum is free to browse, and we also have a stunning art gallery full of pieces from local painters.
See you in the spring! Thank you for watching.
