Great fly fishing trips in Pemberton BC Canada Ivey Lake
Great fly fishing trips in Pemberton BC Canada Ivey Lake. While the Rivers in the Whistler and Pemberton area are in full flood the many small lakes are prime for fly fishing. All of the small lakes have now turned and the fishing has been great for Rainbow Trout ranging in size from 12 - 30+. Ivey Lake offers some of the best fly fishing in BC. This year we have updated our fleet of float tubes to the New Outcast Super Fat Cat. These float tubes are top of the line and our clients are all really enjoying them. Our New Outcast boats are very comfortable, safe and agile. Like anything there is a short learning curve with float tubes and people are pleasantly surprised how quick they can motor around the lake with little effort. Even children find these boats very easy to use. These new boats allow us access to very remote lakes because of there compactness and light weight. As you can see in the picture below, you are high and dry making them the ultimate small lake fishing vessel. There is roughly 20 small lakes to choose from in the Whistler and Pemberton area. Most of the lakes are stocked, so this keeps the fishing very good. The lakes are stocked with Rainbow Trout and Cutthroat Trout. There are a couple lakes that have been stocked with Brook Trout. Depending which species you would like to target we will have a lake for you. All of our small lakes are located in very scenic locations and are surrounded by dense old growth forests. Depending on how remote you would like to be, there are lakes that include a short hike. These remote lakes see little to zero fishing pressure, making for exceptional fly fishing.
When it comes to fly fishing small lakes in Whistler and Pemberton, one lake stands out. Ivey Lake is known as Pemberton's Trophy lake and it is not uncommon to see Rainbow Trout in excess of 20 each and everyday. Rainbow Trout in Ivey lake grow rapidly and can tip the scale at 6+LBS. Fly fishing is a preferred method of fishing this lake and single barbless is mandatory. Throughout the day the lake has great hatches making the dry fly fishing very fun. We have found that the larger fish in Ivey lake feed heavily on large nymph that include; Dragonfly nymphs and Damsel Nymph. If you time an adult damsel fly hatch, you will see large Rainbow Trout jumping 3 - 4 feet out of the water trying to sink their teeth in to one.
Most note worthy, our professional fly fishing guides have developed flies specifically for Ivey Lake. The Trout in Ivey lake find these flies irresistible this gives our clients and guides the upper hand. Furthermore our team fly fish this lake regularly so this allows us to keep on top of what is working best. As a result this translates to our clients having the best fly fishing experience possible. Archeological Team Digs up the Past and the Ground at Pemberton Historical Park
(WICOMICO COUNTY, M.d.) - An archeological team digs up the ground and the past at Pemberton Historical Park in Salisbury.
Pemberton was built in 1741 and continues to draw in crowds for the free history, hiking trails, and scenery.
It could soon house a 100 person amphitheatre.
“We’re here testing to be sure there are no significant archeological sites in the path of the development just to make sure it’s a good site for the theatre and that it’s not going to destroy any history, said the project's archeologist, Dr. Ed Otter.
Construction for the amphitheatre could start as early as Spring, 2017.
In order to find historical objects, a person must sift, fairly hard to see if historical artifacts show up in the soil at Pemberton Historical Park. By doing so, the team ensures the location is an appropriate site to build an amphitheatre.
The surveying process involves digging holes of various depths and sifting through the dug up soil - quite a bit of arm and leg work.
The archeological team says they could find pottery and other historical artifacts in the ground.
“Pemberton Hall was built in 1741, and there may have been people out here before. There were Indians out here before so we have potential to find anything from 20-thousand year old Indians to yesterday’s garbage, added Dr. Otter.
Project managers say it is prohibited to your own dig or to use a metal detector, but you can still come and enjoy what the park has to offer.
“It’s actually prohibited to use metal detectors or to dig out here in this park specifically because of the integrity of the park we’re trying to maintain, but we do encourage people to come out here and enjoy the park, and the trails. There’s a lot of rich history here, said Andy Kitzrow, the recreation superintendent.
